I've been a blade guy all my life (30+ years of shaving). I've heard that electric never gets as close as a blade. This is still true. I found that this shaver was an OK first cut, followed by a little touch up in the shower with the blade worked great. The advantages were several: 1) Warm and dry using the electric shaver, no rude cold water splash in the morning 2) regular blades last for a long, long time when used for touch up 3) I can do the touch up in the nice warm shower 4) At about 2 bucks a blade,this two prong method is much cheaper than just blades and much better than just the electric shaver (in fact its as good as blades). This shaver is waterproof and ok in the shower, but it still functions better on a stiff dry beard.Customer Review: Good razor for the price

My last electric was one of the expensive Panasonic Linear razors and while I really liked that razor it died after about 3 years of use. I decided to replace it with this razor as opposed to a more expensive model after reading the reviews and I will say that I have not been disappointed. While there is a noticeable difference in the speed of the razor (mostly noticeable by the decreased volume of the motor), it works great for daily shaving. I am hoping this quality of shave holds up as the blades dull a little bit. Works well in the shower, small, lightweight, convenient. Great razor for the price and even if it only lasts half as long as my last razor it will still be a very good deal in my opinion.Customer Review: If you have a thick beard...forget it.

I picked this up right before Christmas on sale. While I'm sure it's a capable razor for some men, if your beard is particularly thick, look elsewhere. Even after just a few days of growth, I found it unable to shave my beard sufficiently. The way I see it, when I have to go over my face with a regular razor after I've used an electric razor, the razor become unnecessary. For people with thin/regular beards or more moderate growth who shave every single day (twice?), the Pro Curve would probably do a serviceable job, but it's not a good match for me. It gets points for being usable in the shower, good battery life and having a pretty decent trimmer, but even at that it barely musters a two-star rating.Customer Review: Decent performance at a low price

This shaver is a great value at the sale price. Maybe not so great at list price.
My beard is coarse and wiry, with medium thickness and with 2 days growth this unit gave a comfortable if not super close shave (I use it dry). But I have yet to find an electric that shaves as close as a blade. It does require several passes to get all of the hairs so the 3 minute shave time turns into about 5 or 6 which eats into the already short battery life.
I have not experienced any of the tearing or cutting that some reviewers describe. In fact, this unit is one of the more comfortable electrics I have used compared to more expensive Norelco rotary, Braun and older Panasonic models.

Bought this product because of positive review on Consumer Reports and the Panasonic brand (love their electronic items!). Wanted a shaver that would give a close, smooth shave and that could be rinsed off for cleaning. Summary: lightweight, smooth shaving heads and fairly easy to rinse clean, but the negative is that it simply doesn't provide a close shave. After several weeks of usage, it always left much more stubble than my former Norelco or current Braun models (those aren't wet/dry). This was evident shaving either dry or with lather/wet. Most disappointed given the Panasonic name & history, product was returned for refund--hoping no glitches on that with Amazon.
