Customer Reviews of Panasonic ES8043SC Pro-Curve Pivot Action Linear Wet/Dry Shaver, SilverCustomer Review: Great, versatile shaver Summary: 5 Stars
Starting way back when I was 14 years old I shaved strictly with bladed razors of various brands and styles. This lasted for about 26 years until I finally got tired of cutting myself and paying for throw away razors and blades. I finally switched to a rechargeable rotary which I used up until a month ago. I finally got tired of the long charge time necessary to get a full charge for it to last a few days worth of shaves. I chose the Panasonic ES8043SC Pro-Curve Pivot Action Linear Wet/Dry Shaver, Silver because of some of the reviews that I read, the short charge time and the price. After receiving the razor and trying it for about a month I was completely sold on this razor. Not only did it give me a much better shave than my previous rotaries it did not irritate my face in the least and my face and neck were smooth like when I shaved with the bladed razors. So far this razor has been successful in resolving all my shaving needs. Also as an added bonus, my wife says that it's gently enough for her to allow me to shave her "sensitive areas" without any resulting razor burn. We are both extremely happy with the performance of this razor.
Customer Review: Very good product Summary: 5 Stars
I have been using this shaver for over 2 years (bought May 2008) so I feel qualified to write a review. I've been very satisfied with this product and and even after 2 years the blades are still sharp and the battery is still going strong. This is compared to a Remington rotary shaver I had previously which was terrible. The remington would pull hairs and was awkward to hold. This one feels very solid in the hand and the motor is powerful enough to give a good shave.
Pros
- Head flexes back and forth to makes shaver follow contour of your face
- Wet/dry operation makes it easy to clean and shave wet
- Has both the foil and side-to-side blades to cut the longer hairs and shave close at the same time
- Has a pop out trimmer to trim side burns and beard if you have one
- Has a special high-speed mode to make cleaning blades easier
- sharp blades, strong motor, good quality overall
Cons
- Sometimes need to go over area several times to get a smooth shave, but I think this is a limitation of electric shavers in general rather than a fault of this product
As you can see very few cons and many pros. Overall a great product that I recommend highly.
Customer Review: Excellent Elect Foil Shaver and gr8 price! Summary: 5 Stars
Bought this shaver online for $61 incl shipping. I've owned braun foil shavers: 7500(syncro), 5400(flex), as well as Norelco rotary shavers and this Panasonic (ES8043SC)beats both in my opinion. The main difference is the 13K-rpm motor which is much quieter with less vibration and noise than my previous shavers, plus the blade angle(30deg)which gives a very close shave with no irritation. This is important to me as I have sensitive skin.
This foil shaver cuts closer with a single pass than any other shaver I've owned. It also has a very flexible head with comfortable spring action to reach under the chin and jawline areas for a completely smooth shave. After using it for a month(dry shave only - I'm yet to try it wet), it still feels like shaving with a regular blade and cream(and of course without the blood-loss and irritation lol).
Cons:
- Cannot shave while charging(while conn.to elect.outlet)
- Pivot head moves smoothly but feels a bit on the 'loose' side(as if it will
eventually break off - time will tell)
All in all, I love this powerful yet quiet shaver. I consider it a wonderful value(typically US$60-80).
Customer Review: Decent but not perfect Summary: 4 Stars
I replaced a cheap 3 head shaver with this one. This one works much better. Before I would shave with the electric and have to go back over everything with a razor to get even a reasonably close shave. With the ES8043SC I can do the whole job with just the shaver. It's not a perfect razor close shave but it does a decent job for the price.
One problem I had was trying to shave with a damp face. When your face is damp the shaver doesn't glide across your face as easy and it is difficult to get a good shave, though I haven't tried it yet fully lathered so it may work better that way and it works well enough with a dry face. It doesn't cause a lot of skin irritation for me either way, but that could be because I was already used to using an electric razor.
There are two models of this shaver. They are identical except that this one doesn't come with the base. I was worried at first that the lack of the cleaning base would be annoying but, it hasn't really been a problem. It is easy to clean and the lady friend likes the extra counter space. Overall, I would say that it is a good purchase if you aren't looking to spend a ton of money on a fancier one.
Customer Review: This is the best one I ever bought Summary: 5 Stars
I'm an old cuss, having shaved for over 50 years, and I've owned every make of electric imaginable (even a Ronson). I bought this shaver after the timely death of a Remington, which followed the timely death of a Braun, which followed the timely death of a Norelco, and on and on. None of the others even came close to the Panasonic. This shaver will shave my reasonably tough beard close in three minutes, including cleanup time, and it will do a mean "three-dayer" in only a little longer. It seems to find all the nooks and crannies in my somewhat crinkly neck. It almost never needs recharging. Cleaning it is a piece of cake. It's light, compact, and easy to pack for travel. I keep looking for some flaw in the design or function of this shaver, but I honestly can't find any, except perhaps that my local stores don't stock replacement heads. (I bought an extra on-line.) I use the shaver dry with pre-shave most of the time, but it's especially effective after a shower or hot face wash.
My overall view: I wouldn't part with this shaver even if they had a recall on it. It will never leave my medicine cabinet except in the company of my suitcase.
