Customer Reviews of Panasonic ES8043SC Pro-Curve Pivot Action Linear Wet/Dry Shaver, SilverCustomer Review: Panasonic ES8043C Shaver Summary: 4 Stars
I have been using this shaver for about one month now. My previous shaver was also a Panasonic, and it finally gave out after almost 10 years. I have to say that this shaver has the other one beat hands down. It's been almost 15 years since I shaved with a blade, and this shaver gives me a shave that rivals the blade that I used to use. It's very light to handle, and the pivoting head truly does conform to your face/neck line thus allowing for a more efficient shave. I shave 5-6 days/week, and since I have had this shaver, I have had to recharge it once. The cleaning process is very easy and quick. I use Panasonic's recommended procedure once/week and it takes about 5 minutes. I have yet to use this shaver in the shower, so I can't comment on its capability there. I read some reviews that complained about the noise that it makes, however I find that this one is quieter than my previous one. The only down side to this shaver (IMHO) is that the trimmer forces me to put my hand in an awkward position to use it. It may be that it's just different from my previous shaver, and hopefully I'll get used to it.
Overall, I don't regret my purchase whatsoever.
Customer Review: Best electric out there Summary: 5 Stars
For a few years I tried a couple different Norelco razors and they did not cut it. My 5 o'clock shadow was back by noon. So I switched back to blades and cream. But after two years of expenses associated with that system and all the cuts and blood lost, I decided to try this one based on the reviews and because it was a straight head, not the round lift and cut system.
The manufacturer tells you to shave with it for a month before you rate the results; they say that is how long it takes your face to get use to a new shaving system. It took about 2 weeks and I realized how great this product is. If a razor and cream is a 10 for closeness, then this is 9.5. Best of all, it pays for itself in less then a year. And instead of shaving for 10 minutes every morning, I can do it in about 4-5 minutes. I use it dry, right after my shower, but wet the neck area, this seems to get a closer shave. You can also use shaving cream with it, but I have never tried it. Clean up is a snap, soap and water; none of the soaking the heads in a special cleaner and spaying down the razor like Norelco made you do. This was a great purchase.
Customer Review: Great for shaving head or face Summary: 5 Stars
This is only the second electric razor I have owned, so maybe it's not saying a lot to claim it's the best I have ever used. However, I cannot say enough good things about this Panasonic model.
Most of its use is in the shower to shave my head. Previously, I'd do this with a regular razor in front of a mirror; invariably I'd nick myself, and the cleanup was a hassle. I ended up not shaving it regularly due to the trouble involved.
But now, I use the Pro Curve every other day, and it does a fantastic job. My scalp is a bit lumpy, so the pivot action is a blessing.
For face shaving, it's awesome.
If there would be a downside, it would be shaving the neck area. However, this seems to be a common complaint of electric razors.
Caution: for the first few times you use this, it wouldn't hurt to have something like Nivea for Men Post Shave Balm, Cooling, 3.3-Ounce Container (Pack of 4) on hand. After a few uses, your scalp and face will get used to it ... at least mine did.
Customer Review: Close Shave Summary: 4 Stars
I have bought and used at least 4 different brands of electric shavers over the years. My latest one finally gave up so I decided to try this Panasonic for a change.
This razor is much better than most others I have tried. The main advantage is that it provides a much closer shave. I also like being able to use it wet or dry. Plus, cleaning it with liquid soap is easier and more efficient than trying to brush the heads clean. The only down side I can see is that the battery does not last quite as long as some other shavers. However, this is a minor inconvenience and not a problem.
I have read a few reviews saying they could not get a close shave or it cut their face. I have not had any of these problems. Yes, it does take time for your skin to adjust to a new razor. However, I had no irritation from day one. Plus, I am getting a very close shave. I thought that I would have some problems because of my fair skin and I have always had trouble getting all the hairs on my neck. But, I had no problems at all.
Therefore, I highly recommend this razor based on my personal experience.
Customer Review: Great if you don't have a neck Summary: 2 Stars
I really wanted to like this thing. If you're like me, you're desperate to get away from straight edged razors. Many people warned me against electrics but I had to give it try....a hundred bucks later and a few emergency room-esq gashes on my neck have taught me my lesson. Stick with the straight razors. This one does a fairly decent job on the face, but once you go south of the mouth say your prayers. The chin, neck, and right below your ears will take a beating. Problem is, after the beating...you still have whiskers!! You can run this thing over your neck a thousand times, and you will STILL have stubble. I thought it would be great using it in the shower to really get a close shave....wrong again folks. The cleaning/drying system is really cool looking and seems to work well, but, after the coolness wears off you're left with a mediocre razor that makes straight edges feel like the greatest invention since television. And don't dismiss me as being too negative...I tried this thing for two weeks. Eight hospital visits and a lot of cursing later, I shall be sticking with my old buddy.
