Customer Reviews of Panasonic EW1270AC Portable Oral Irrigator

Customer Review: Handy little item
Summary: 4 Stars

Oral irrigators like this give your mouth a clean feeling, and your dentist will smile upon you as well (they do a good job of getting rid of gunk between the teeth and at the gumline that would otherwise turn into tartar).

This unit is compact and fits together well. The motor nests into the water tank when not in use, and a quick tug is all you need to pull it out. It's easy to hold and well designed. The only flaw is that you'll need to refill the water tank during use, because it doesn't really hold enough to go over your entire mouth (it's not 20 minutes worth of water as the editorial review says above - more like 40 seconds), but this is simple - flip open a little piece of plastic and run water into the hole, then flip it closed and continue.

Customer Review: reliable for travel
Summary: 4 Stars

I just got back from 16 days in the UK. I bought the Panasonic EW 1270 for this and other upcoming trips after reading the reviews and deciding against the Waterpik portable (because of reports of battery usage).

I never had to change batteries during my trip. This product was completely reliable and performed well. Yes, you will run out of water if you are not quick and what's the big deal about filling the well again? One point: the pictures are taken from a side angle so it looks smaller than it really is - 2.5x6x1.5 or so. It also has enough weight to make a backpacker think twice about carrying it on a trek.

If you are looking for something to take with you traveling, I recommend this item. - Kathy in CA

Customer Review: Awesome power. Easy to use. Lots of splatter.
Summary: 5 Stars

I love the easy set up, and use of this.

Drop in 2 batteries, and fill the tank, connect the nozzle and your good to go.

I read some other reviews that indicated low water pressure, but this seems more than adequate to me. Very strong. So much so, that if you hold the stream too close to your gums or tongue, it hurts.

The only down side is that there is a LOT of splatter from the strong spray. This could probably be minimized by a better technique, but water does go flying on the mirror, etc.

In fact the splatter is so much on my mirror, that I'm considering using this in the shower.

This is simply a well designed and reasonably priced product. Highly recommended.

Customer Review: Just too weak, there are better options
Summary: 2 Stars

their are 2 choices for the rechargables 1. this one
2. the WATERPIK "Ultra"
the Panasonic has a 10x better battery because it holds a charge for much longer. If you buy the Ultra by WATERPIK you can rely on one thing if you use it continually, replacing it every 3-6 months. Too bad the Panasonic is so much weaker than the WATERPIK brand rival. The answer is there is no good answer for rechargables. I went with the best choice I believe which is ShowerBreeze w/ 3' hose Oral IrrigatorMore powerful, no dead battrries EEVVEERR, and best of all no freakin mess. NO CONTEST.

Customer Review: died after a couple of months
Summary: 1 Stars

it worked ok when it worked I guess, but even then the only way to know I was getting full power was to use a fresh set of batteries every day. Plus it died completely after a couple of months. Standard rechargeable batteries seem like a good idea but the charge and performance is so variable and unreliable that for anything more demanding than a remote control for your TV you are better off with a cord. Where that is impossible, such as a digital camera, go with a camera with a custom polymer battery. Since the product won't work without it they have to make it somewhat decent. For something like this irrigator at least if it doesn't work with a cord you will know that it is the device and not the batteries.
