Customer Reviews of Panasonic EW3109W Upper Arm Blood Pressure Monitor (White)Customer Review: An ideal personal BP monitor Summary: 5 Stars
Panasonic has made a very nice, compact, easy to use, affordable, high quality personal blood pressure monitor.
It's ideal for personal use. The cuff clamps on your arm snugly but not too tight. It would be easy for most people to put the cuff on without help. It's compact enough that you could take it with you on business trips or vacations.
The memory doesn't keep track of different user's readings. Not a big deal if it's dedicated to a single user. It might actually cost the same to buy two of these as it would to buy a model with two person storage.
You can decide whether or not to store a reading. So if you want to take a practice reading first, you can skip it and store the next one.
The actual measurement process is very comfortable. It doesn't feel like your arm is in a vice. This makes it easier to relax during the measurement. The reading is taken while the device is inflating so it's also much quicker than other ones I've used.
It comes with a carrying pouch with enough room for the monitor and cuff. It runs on four standard AA batteries. Alkalines are included but I chose to use rechargeables (Sanyo Eneloop). An AC adapter and larger cuff are options, not included. The manual has helpful hints on how and when to take measurements. One of the better manuals I've seen for a BP monitor.
It looks and feels like a quality product, one you might see in a doctor's office. They all seem to have an old school Baum with a mercury gauge mounted on the wall but more and more are using electronic units like this one.
I can't find anything I dislike about it. Very affordable too.
Customer Review: Low price, accurate, fits arms up to 17" Summary: 5 Stars
Looking to replace an automatic cuff of another brand, which after years of solid service had died, I found this Panasonic automatic blood pressure cuff. Having priced them at local stores I found the price at under forty to be exceptional for a cuff that would fit both my arm (12") and my husband's arm (16"). I took a chance and ordered it off Amazon and am so happy with my purchase!
The cuff is already in a semi-contoured tube (no flopping around), so sliding your arm into it is very easy. Placing the cuff so that the line from the unit to the cuff runs like a straight line to your pinky finger is one of the only things you really have to pay attention to for an accurate reading. The other things are not to take your blood pressure right after eating (a universal rule of thumb), have your arm approximately at the same height (on a table next to you) as your heart when taking your blood pressure reading, and take one reading, not multiple readings one after the other, for the best results.
Securing the cuff with the velcro closure is very easy, but don't put it on too tightly. Once you push the button to start the test, the cuff gets quite tight, and may even feel uncomfortable, but it's only for a very short while. The entire testing process takes no more than 30 seconds. My last reading took 13 seconds.
The readout is large enough to easily see it, despite the unit itself being surprisingly small. Overall it does an excellent job and meets all my criteria for this product: good price, accurate, fits many sizes of arms, and easy to use. I recommend this blood pressure monitor for anyone looking for a simple device that does the job.
Customer Review: buy this machine first! Summary: 5 Stars
After my doctor told me I needed to start checking my blood pressure every day, I bought a drugstore brand monitor -- but the readings were erratic. So i took the machine back, exchanging it for yet another drugstore model -- but that one would give me error readings or readings that seemed to indicate that i was on the verge of dropping dead -- which i was pretty sure i wasn't. After returning two machines in two days, I decided to check Amazon.com and found this Panasonic model...which had received many good reviews. So...instead of running off to yet another drugstore for yet another model that didn't work, I ordered the Panasonic -- and it's great. The comfort cuff is truly comfortable, unlike the other cuffs on the returned machines, and is much easier to put around (thanks to the "com-fit" feature.") It's also quiet, doesn't seem to over-inflate on my arm...and is completely consistent in terms of readings. So -- do youself a huge favor...order this one now, kick in the extra money for expedited shipping...and save yourself the time and aggravation of buying, then having to return other models that won't be anywhere near this good or easy to use.
Customer Review: BEST EVER Summary: 5 Stars
I have been using blood pressure monitors for over 12 years and compared to others I have been using this one is FAR better.... here is why: (1) The construction quality is excellent... beautifully made (2) It is extremely quiet, almost in-audible compared to others I have used (3) The cuff design is unusual and a huge improvement over the conventional cuff design on other units... this one has a flexible shaped insert inside the inflatable cuff that forms a "tube" shape that makes the cuff very easy to slide over your arm and to easily wrap the Velcro to hold it in place. I eventually learned that I could leave the Velcro "closed" and simply slide the cuff off after use and easily slide it back on for a new measurement without opening the Velcro.(4) Yes, is is made in China BUT in a PANASONIC factory. (5) I have not yet compared the readings to those in my doctors office but likely it will be very close since it is ~ same as the older very noisy one I have been using that does closely match the doctors measurements.
Customer Review: ....A STEP UP..... Summary: 5 Stars
It was time to order a new blood pressure monitor and I decided on this one. I'm so glad I did ! It's quite an improvement from my old manual monitor and it's much better made. The readings are very accurate, as I take my pressure count twice a day and they are in tune with my older monitor. I'm particularly impressed with the cuff and the quality of materials, the carrying bag is a nice treat as well.
I take my blood pressure every day for a week before I visit a medical advisor because their machines are always way off and always wrong. People get into a bit of trouble assuming that just because you're in a medical environment, that the machines and readings are correct.. No truth to this whatsoever, and I wish more people understood that fact..... Besides the *white coat syndrome,* medical offices don't always have accurate or good quality instruments. We can only count on ourselves for accuracy which is why a good blood pressure monitor is needed in every home. Highly recommended.
