Customer Review: Ouch!
Summary: 1 Stars

I got this diffuser for Christmas, and it was purchased at a Whole Foods grocery. The plug is a wall wart, and nothing on the box says anything about energy conservation, so I figure the wall wart is probably an indication of less than stellar energy efficiency.

The main reason for my review is the actual performance of the diffuser... it seems beyond comprehension. I read and followed the advice of the reviews, but could not get the diffuser to function at all unless I put my finger in the water. I discovered this fact as I was removing some water with a dish cloth. The machine functioned whenever I put the dishcloth in the water, as long as some small part of my hand was inside it. Strange, I know, but I tried other objects, double checked the cord and outlets, varied the water temperature and level, varied the amount of essential oil... nothing but my finger in the water made the machine work.

This led me to discover the 'ouch' that is ultimately making me return the machine. The mechanism by which this machine diffuses water is painful. It's maybe a mild electric current, and it doesn't hurt much, but it was alarming to me. I do not trust the machine to be safe to my pets, me, or my house. I am returning it for a (rechargeable) battery operated scent bug.

Customer Review: Tranquil and Cool

This mister has several advantages over the bowl type misters that have the ultrasonic thingamabob completely submerged in water.

Pros: The ultrasonic device, its LED's and power cabling aren't exposed to water and oils - reducing maintenance and possibly extending the lifespan of the ultrasonic device since bowl mister performance seems to decline after just a few weeks of use. The LEDs malfunction or completely die in bowl misters after a while (blue LED's die really fast for some reason and are always the first to go).

This mister has a fan at its base and a directional vent head that disperses the water vapor so you can control the direction of vapor flow.

It's less messy.

The lights transition smoothly, the colors fade and meld creating a really tranquil and mesmerizing ambiance.

Cons: Very small, water capacity is low. You have to add water frequently, but that shouldn't be a problem.

UPDATE: I've discovered what creates the off smell in this unit. It is not the plastic. The fan is placed right under the PCB in the device, the smell of the chemicals in the PCB is what I smell. It is quite strong. Also, my unit is malfunctioning now. The electronic components are not as safe from water as I thought.

Customer Review: Works Wonderfully!

I recieved this mister for Yule, and I have to say, I am very pleased with it. It does NOT work well as a humidifier. Its far too small. But it does work well as an essential oil diffuser. I have used it every day since then, and its never failed. The only thing that I would complain about is the need for a water fill line on the inside. Lack of one has meant a little more adjusting period as to how much water I can fill it with without having it be TOO full and not work. I suggest if you think your mister is not working that you take a medicine cup and dip in the reservoire, after removal of excess water, it should work fine. And this way, if you are using essential oils as well, you can keep the cup off to the side until the resevoire is ready to be filled again. E.O.'s are expensive and no one wants to waste them ;D

Another great feature of this mister is the changing lights and the ability to turn them off. I love to keep the lights going during the day, and then at night I will turn the light off and let the mister do its job without worrying about the light keeping me awake. It will usually run a good 2-3 hours without having to be refilled and can successfully enhance the smell of any small to moderate sized room, though I wouldnt use it for large spaces.

Customer Review: Great when it worked...but it died.
Summary: 2 Stars

I have quite a few different aromatherapy diffusers...from burners to nebulizers. What I wanted was something that would allow me to change oils quickly. And when it WORKED this diffuser was great. If I wanted to change the scent...I could pop off the top...drop in a few drops of a new oil...and I was ready to go.

Then...it died. What actually died was the small fan in the bottom of the diffuser. Being the electrically handy gal I am...I took apart the diffuser hoping that the fan would be a simple part to replace...

At first...it looked like your standard computer CPU cooling fan. I thought SWEET...I can get one of those super cheap online. But the electrical rating on it was odd. I was unable to find a replacement part anywhere...unless I wanted to place a wholesale order.

I can only say that...the diffuser is NOT meant for heavy use by an aromatherapy geek. I DID run mine quite a bit...but I think that it should have lasted more than three months. I went back to my trusty (but ugly) nebulizer. If you're going to use this heavily...like in a professional massage practice...go with something more substantial.

Customer Review: What's the point?
Summary: 2 Stars

For $25-30, it's a waste of money.
1. Flimsy and cheap looking, it probably costs about $1.50 to make.
2. Loud for such a small device
3. I can't smell anything, where is al the scented oils going?

We started with few drops of Eucalyptus oil, then kept adding more because you literally could not smell it. If you are looking for a aroma therapy device, stick to the candle and oil apparatus or try the Vicks Vaporizer. All this thing does is adds like a cup of water into the air over a 4 hour timeframe (that's all its tank can hold). That amount won't even last throughout the night! Again what's the point? There are better devices out there.

It has a switch for a multi colored light that is cool if you're a fan of lava lamps and psychedelic posters, otherwise, it's annoying and pointless.

I'll give it more than 1 star because it is what it is. I'm sure its "ultrasonic pulsations" sound nifty and maybe it does clean about .0005% of the air, so for those who like some cheesy decor, this one's for you.
