Customer Review: Wow...first LED burned out on the FIRST morning of use

So...I just got my GoLite from UPS yesterday. I had originally ordered it from Amazon, but after reading the reviews about LEDs burning out I canceled my order and placed one with Costco's as they accept in-store returns for online orders.
And good thing I did, because today is the first morning I'm using this thing and one of the LEDs just turned off about 10 minutes into the cycle. It kind of came back on and off for a little while before just giving up and staying off. =(
There are some serious quality control issues going on here because no product should be breaking this quickly!!! I had only tested it last night for maybe 3 minutes (when it first got here), so that's 13 minutes of total runtime before my first LED burnout.
I haven't had enough time to see if it's effective but even if it is effective it's completely ridiculous to have your product break so quickly. To be honest the price is also a little ridiculous for what amounts to a grid of blue colored LEDs connected to a timer and a $5 clock.
And you can't even set it to turn on at a specific time-you can only set it to run for a specific amount of time.
Oh well, off it goes for a return =(

I bought this light at Costco on something of a whim last fall. Having lived in extreme northern climates all of my life, I was quite familiar with light therapy but had never tried it at home. I have to say this unit is quite effective (when used in conjunction with melatonin and exercise) in regulating circadian rythms during the dark cold months of the winter. I have a few issues with the design; first if I am using the light at my desk, if I shut it off when get up for a few minutes, the timer on the light will reset. Secondly, it seems odd that there is no timer to turn the light on automatically if one wanted to have the light come on while they were still in bed (this is especially odd considering the fact that it has a biult in 24hr clock). Finally I have to say that the control for programming this unit are not the most intuative (for all I know it *could* have an auto-on feature, but it sure isn't obvious). With all that said, this sleek, compact unit is excellent to keep at the desk in the office or on the breakfast table in the morning. It really does work! One little side note, do not use it in the evening, it will reset your body clock and make it impossible to fall asleep.Customer Review: Worked for a few months, no help from customer service, now it's a piece of junk

I purchased a P1 several years ago and only used it for about six months. After letting it sit for a few years, I recently decided to try it again but it would not turn on at all. I opened the back and the batteries in it were still good, I tried another 9V cord, but it still would not turn on. I sent an e-mail to customer service requesting advice on how to service the unit. The response only referred to the two year warranty. A phone call to customer service was no better; they just repeated the same two year warranty information, even though I had already specified that it was an older unit. I was told that they no longer had service centers and that there was no way to service or repair the unit, only replace. My fault in not using the P1 more during the warranty period, but I would have expected the light unit to work longer than a few months, and that there would be some way to service a unit that apparently has a history of faulty workmanship. I hate to throw something in the trash that was hardly used and worked fine in the past, and might still consider trying an electronics shop, but no way am I spending money on another product from this company.Customer Review: '... and then there was light."

If you find it hard to get to sleep at a reasonable hour, wake up grumpy, or
feel down/gray, THIS IS THE PRODUCT THAT TOOK IT ALL AWAY for me.
I went to school in Upstate New York, and suffered through very long, cold, gray winters and felt like hell. Twenty odd years later, my winter blues had turned extremely painful, and I booked a vacation hoping it would keep my spirits up: no such luck.
Researched and decided rather quickly that a portable light that touted itself as the most effective wavelength could work for me.
I was going to sleep about 3-4 am and waking up at 10:30-11 am.
The very next day, I woke up (without a clock) earlier than I have in decades, refreshed, and it's only gotten better. This morning I was awakened by a mischievious teenager at 6:30 am AND I WASN'T UPSET!!!
Everyone I have talked to wants one and apparently suffers from the same set of symptoms.
I should add that I am also taking St. John's Wort, but the sleep cycle was changed only after I started to use the light.
I recommend it highly.

Before you read my review, it is imperative that you understand the reviewer. I am about the biggest skeptic when it comes to these kinds of devices, so believe me when I say this has fixed my life.
As someone who has suffered from chronic insomnia and DSPS (delayed sleep phase syndrome) for most of his life, I can tell you that I've followed every suggestion posted on the Internet. All the teas, exercise routines, etc..
I even took OTC medications for years (no prescription), but they didn't really help the root issue--my sleeping disorder.
I ordered this item from Costco online for $135 shipped and taxed and after using it for a couple of days, I immediately saw the results. I actually felt TIRED at night and began sleeping within minutes, instead of hours before.
After months of usage, my sleeping routine has been fixed. Instead of sleeping at 4 AM, I now easily fall asleep at 11 or later, if I choose.
I do wake up in the middle of the night for a few minutes, but promptly fall back asleep.
If I could rate this product a 10/5, I would.
