Customer Reviews of Philips Health GoLite M2 Blue Spectrum Light Therapy DeviceCustomer Review: Continued Golite Customer Summary: 5 Stars
Having used the P1 for several winters (I moved from CA to Seattle and the long, dark winters were a killer) this product took some selling, as I'm not one to fix a wheel that isn't broken.
However, a few key things convinced me to upgrade, first and foremost the cordlessness. I can pick the light up and take it with me if I'm mid-session and want a cup of coffee or the dog needs to go out, bla bla bla. Hold its charge well and, as always the light therapy works.
Finally, I have to defend this product from some of the crazies on here who tell you you're going to go blind if you use it. It doesn't take a nuclear physicist to look up some research and the science behind it and understand, in simple terms, that this product poses no more threat to you and me than walking around in broad daylight. This light and the other blue light devices have provided life-changing results for many thousands of us who have SAD and have used the light to treat it, and I'm guessing since many of us can still get to our computers to write reviews, we haven't yet gone blind.
The device works and does what it says it's going to do - if you suffer from SAD or circadian rhythm issues, it will probably change your life.
Customer Review: Extremely Pleased - good product - improving my mood/ decreasing my fatigue Summary: 5 Stars
I have been using this lightbox for a bit over 2 weeks and am pleased and amazed at the improvements I am seeing. I take medication for seasonal affective disorder/ depression and have also been diagnosed with PMDD. Although my symptoms and mood were dropping quicker this fall than ever before, I did not want to increase/change my medication so I decided to give light therapy a try.
This particular light device is terrific - I received power adapters for any imaginable power plugs; the item charges easily and quickly; it is lightweight and came in a very nice, lightly padded carrying case that also has a handle and seems to be made very well; I love how small and light the actual lightbox is; easy to place and manipulate; variable intensities; has a handy clock.
Light therapy has been great for me. I use the box about 30 minutes a day around 11am (I had been using it in the afternoon (around 4pm) but it was interupting my sleep pattern). I am finding that my mood has lifted and my fatigue has been minimized. Since this box is cordless, I am able to take it anywhere and it has been very easy to fit into my life.
Customer Review: buyer beware! Do your homework before buying this product Summary: 2 Stars
My previous review was rejected, to many URL references I expect, however I will try again. My star rating is inaccurate as well. My actual rating would be NO STARS!
I purchased one of these little devices based on online reviews of the older version, the P1, and info on the Apollo website. Luckily, on Amazon's recommendation I also purchased the book, Winter Blues, at the same time, and luckily as well, I decided to read the book before using the device.
Acording to Dr. Rosenthal, who is the author of Winter Blues, these blue light devices have not as yet been as thoroughly tested as the white light and there is some concern about their affect on ones eyes, a possible connection with Macular Degeration. (please click on the comment button to see more valuable information on this subject.)
So, my advice is order Dr. Rosenthal's book and read it first. Then make your decision as to whether to go with the thoroughly researched white light devices or go with this cute little device. My decision was to return the M2 and get one of the white lite products. I give the book a 5 star rating.
Customer Review: Careful if you get headaches Summary: 1 Stars
I kind of hate to give this one star because I don't really know if it works. I have tried it three times and I got a blazing headache that lasted for about 4 hours each time. It was almost immediately upon catching a glipse of the blue so I really don't know if this works for someone who can take the light for the 30 minutes or so. Since I assume I am not typical I hesitate to give a single star but am doing so to make sure this gets read. If you are no prone to headaches you may be just fine. I have had them through the years, though have been lucky enough to avoid for the last few. I am writing this to let migraine sufferers know that they should not risk it. Don't risk your money and, if you are a migraine sufferer you know what I mean, don't risk a headache. Pass and find another way to restore your energy. IF you are not a migraine sufferer, feel free - I have nothing really to say good or bad as I simply don't know. I do know it is nice and compact and does go on as expected with a nice little sound. It seems like it would be a pleasant way of gaining energy - if only I could.
Customer Review: Answer to Sleep Troubles Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased the GoLite to help with my "Winter Blues". My counselor suggested to give it a try, since the fall and winter really do effect my mood. Well, after a month I do see a difference in my mood. Or should I say I'm still in my "spring-summer mode and I haven't experienced the blues. BUT...THE BEST EFFECT of the GoLite is its effect on my sleep. Sleep issues have been with me since I was a child. I NEVER thought I would ever be on a normal sleep schedule. It was an IMPOSSIBLE dream. Well since using the GoLite I find I sleep 8 STRAIGHT hours a night. Having a good night's sleep also helps with my mood and "getup and go". My family can't believe that I am now sleeping and not back at the tv or computer at three in the morning. For anyone with sleep problems this may be the answer you've been searching for.
