Customer Reviews of Philips Norelco NT9110 Precision Nose and Ear TrimmerCustomer Review: For Gosh Sakes- Keep That Nose Hair Trimmed! Summary: 5 Stars
Guys, if you haven't already, take a good look in the mirror at you nose. If you see ANY hairs sticking out of your nostrils, grab your credit card and order one of these immediately. Nobody, and I repeat, nobody cares to see hairs sticking out of your nose, as well as anything else that might be stuck to them!
Every well-groomed man simply needs to have a nose-hair trimmer. I started out using the rotary type, mainly because they're the most popular. The problem was, it just didn't get that close, and it was just plain uncomfortable- but what did I know?
Then I got this model. It's battery operated, I use it once a week for a few minutes, and I've had no trouble with it eating up batteries (I use Duracells). But the main thing is to get one that is not rotary, but rather more like a "sword" like this one. This kind of design is simply more comfortable, and allows you to be more close and precise. To boot, this one cleans up easily- I just run it under the water in the sink, and know that you can always pop off the plastic cap around the tip for a more thorough cleaning if need be.
So take my advice guys and give this one a try if you're dissatisfied with your current trimmer. And if you don't use one, let me just say that people do notice excess nose hair whether they tell you or not.
Customer Review: Works Flawlessly Here Summary: 5 Stars
It's funny how we adore lush, thick hair on our heads - and promptly try to shave it off when the exact same lush hair grows in our eyebrows or nose. Ah, human vanity. I do tend to grow long, thick hair on my head - and also have thick eyebrows. For the longest time I would try just to pluck out the errant ones and let the rest alone, but finally I tried to figure out how other people handled this issue. Heck - they trim them!
The Philips Norelco trimmer works quite nicely on nose and ear areas without any attachments. You just press the blade part against whatever you want to trim, and a few seconds later it's all set. There aren't any nicks at all, no jams or problems. Both I and my boyfriend have used it for many months without any problems.
For eyebrows, there are two different sized attachments you use - one long, one short. The plastic attachment is dual sided so that you can go forward and backwards over the eyebrows to trim them down to your desired length. There's really no way to "go wrong" - the hairs will only be trimmed to the set length, and never any shorter.
We've used this for quite a while and have never had any issues with it at all. It works like a charm and does exactly what it should. Highly recommended.
Customer Review: Great Product But Has Quality Control Issues Summary: 3 Stars
[July 12th, 2009 update: My fourth one just died. I think they fail when they get just a bit of moisture on the blades. I've contacted Norelco customer support but they don't seem concerned. Meanwhile, the competition is figuring out that this design is pretty decent. There are other choices, like the Remington MPT-3000 Precision Trimmer]. I think this is the best nose hair trimmer design I've ever used, and I've used several different types (rotary style, spatula style, scissors, etc). However, I've had two of these Norelco's fail on me within three weeks of usage. The last one lasted 2 months before dying. Fortunately, I'm buying them at the local Fry's, so I just keep taking them back and getting a new one (sorry folks, but I'd actually recommend, in this case, that you buy them locally at a place with a decent return policy). I'm not sure if there's just a bad batch or if there's a pathological design flaw. I'm on my fourth one (fingers crossed). When it fails, it just stops working, and I just use it occasionally for light nose trimming. I never use the accessories or travel with it. I wish a Norelco rep would step-up and deal with this. I give it four stars for design and nose trimming, and one star for quality control. Final rating: 3 stars.
Customer Review: Norelco Nose and Ear Trimmer Review Summary: 5 Stars
I think this is the best nose trimmer you can purchase. I tried the Wahl, Remington, even the $50 Turbo Trimmer sold by Sharper Image. The Norelco beats them all. I was surprised of the low opinions that some other reviewers had of this great product. You can trim nose and ear hairs down to the skin level with this baby without pinching. Other trimmers leave a stubble or more. The cutter blades are in a row outside the trimmer, and with the thinner head being much narrower than other trimmers, you can glide it much further into the nostril to reach those long hairs in hard to reach places. The handle itself is plushier and softer than competitive trimmers so that it is nicer to hold. The Norelco also comes with two eyebrow trimmers that effectively trims those shaggy brows quickly. They even supply you with a little brush for the unit. There are no negatives to this little gem. I usually don't write product reviews, but after reading what the other reviewers said, I had to, as I am so satisfied with this product.... after wasting money trying competitive trimmers. You won't be sorry if you buy this unit.
Customer Review: The Nose Knows Summary: 3 Stars
This is probably my third trimmer of this type over the past ten years. The other two were quickly abandoned because of weak power and/or discomfort. This little Norelco is a great bargain for the money. It comes with a cleaning brush, cover, battery, and even two attachments for trimming eyebows. I haven't trimmed eyebrows, but did experiement by doing some minor beard trimming with the eyebrow attachments. My doing so might raise some eyebrows, but it's something to consider in a pinch.
Norelco's trimmer is comfortable in the hand and smooth cutting. It works great in the nostrils, cutting close with no pulling or pinching. It works fine for the ears too, but I don't like the noise in my ears and will continue to just use a small pair of scissors or tweezers for the ears.
I also like that the blade can be cleaned with a rinse under the faucet and the user doesn't have to oil the blade after each use, as is required with other trimmers.
UPDATE 2/19/11 - After less than ten uses the unit simply stopped working. It was good while it lasted.
