Customer Review: Great shaver with abrupt ending

Overall, I'm quite satisfied with my model 8240XL. I actually "downgraded" from an Arcitec model because I'm mostly bald and also shave the top of my head, but the loud Arcitec caused scrapes on top of my head that would scab up. Also, the small Arcitec trimmer was too short and imprecise for trimming the sideburns and the shaving head gets in the way of positioning this trimmer. Further, the Arcitec heads are impossible to take apart and clean thoroughly, so the heads would clog up with long hairs which took many tedious minutes to clean out with sharp tweezers!
The 8240XL provides relief from the above problems, giving a great shave, and the pitch and sound volume is surprisingly lower in a small bathroom. My only concern is the manual gave no indication how this "low-end" model, without a low battery LED, notifies the user of low battery charge. The answer is not that it simply slows down like a rubber band glider, but that it simply stops abruptly in the middle of a shave. The first time, I thought it was broken! To my delight, it resurrected after charging for a few hours. So, the moral is to always keep that charge cord handy. I know Norelco may love to charge $20-$30 more for the upgrade model, but this is really a bit cheap on their part for what must be the tiny expense of adding the low battery LED to all models.
