Customer Review: No charging light?

I just unpacked this item and was dissapointed by 2 things
1. When I plug it in, the charging light does NOT come on
2. The package says it comes with a cleaning brush but I didn't find one in the package.
Anyone else with the same experience?

Customer Review: Very Disappointing Mid-Level Razor

This razor was purchased as a my first upgrade from the $30 razor level and I am thoroughly disappointed. The shave is the same quality as a $30 razor. In addition, every time I shave little bits of hair cover my sink when I am finished. I have to admit that the Philips Norelco customer service dept. was very generous by sending me another razor after I told them of my troubles. I found this product delivers what it promises.
I've owned a Norelco Shaver many years ago and it lasted forever.
For the past 10 years, I have only used a razor, but an opportunity came up to try it again, so I bought this model. I found it extremely quiet as compared to my old one and it gives me a much closer shave than the older one ever did.
Norelco seems to have improved this product over the years and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to take a break from just using a razor and still get a good shave.

This is the best electric shaver I have ever used and I have been using electric shavers for 50 years. The key is in the shaver head. The cheaper models have a single circle of cutters. This shaver has three rows of cutters and that makes a world of difference in getting a quick and effective shave. The shaver is very quiet and the charge is sufficient for three weeks. Before buying this Norelco 8240XL shaver, I bought the Panasonic ARC IV shaver. The Panasonic shaver was so loud that I was afraid to use it. I thought it might damage my hearing since it would be right next to my ear. Without even using it, I packed it up and returned it to Amazon. I then bought the Norelco 8240XL and it is 75% quieter than the Panasonic. The Norelco gives a close (not super close) shave and it is QUIET. I am happy with the Norelco.
