Customer Reviews of Philips Norelco T765 AccuTrim Beard and Moustache Trimmer

Customer Review: Total garbage
Summary: 1 Stars

Please, please can we have a "no-star" rating on Amazon, because this piece of cr-p does not merit the single star that I am obliged to award it if I wish to post this review? Bought this item from Amazon about a year ago, and have been giving it the benefit of the doubt until now, but why bother? Have just spent 20 minutes of my time trimming a shortish (about 1.5" long) beard. This is ludicrous! My old, basic Remington clippers, which I was dumb enough to throw away when I acquired this item, would have handled the job in less than three minutes. Unlike this model, it would also have done a decent job of trimming my beard! If this item ever reappears on Amazon, shun it like the plague! In the meantime, suggest you approach any similar Norelco product with extreme caution.

Customer Review: Not as good as the old one...
Summary: 3 Stars

It seems like most products are reducing their packaging, reducing the number of ounces for which we pay the same price, and otherwise cheapening their product at our expense. I've owned Norelco beard trimmers for as long as I've had a beard, which is to say most of my adult life and when my old one finally burned out, I replaced it with this one, which was, theoretically, the same design as the old. Not so much. The motor doesn't seem to be as powerful. It doesn't hold a charge (for something that's supposed to be "rechargeable") for very long. It trims well enough, but not as well as the old one. Not sure what or why they did whatever it is they've done to this trimmer, but it's more toy-like than tool-like. It works well enough. And I mean that as faint praise.

Customer Review: Better than most new products
Summary: 4 Stars

I've had one these trimmers (a T860) for more years than I can remember, well 3 or 4. I finally had to replace it after it had lost too much power loss which I think is due more to the battery than the motor. I've had other Norelcos and had the same problem. I tried a new Norelco T980 trimmer to replace it. Well it has neat features but it wouldn't stay locked on the setting so I ended up having to trim at the lowest setting. Not cool. After 3 weeks of that I returned it & got a Panasonic All In One trimmer. I set it to one of it's 14 settings, applied normal pressure to the comb and same problem. LUCKILY I found a replacement for my old reliable and getting another one. I might buy 2! Word to the wise, if it ain't broke don't fix it!!!!!

Customer Review: Dont waste your money on this one
Summary: 1 Stars

Had this for nearly a year and am about to throw it away and purchase a wahl, here's why:

1. Even at full charge, the motor lacks power. This means it actually slows down, nearly to a stop, when trimming thick areas.

2. It trims unevenly, requiring multiple (and i mean more than five) passes in the same area to get the hairs somewhat the same length.

3. If you remove the length setter to get the closest shave possible, i.e. as a sideburn trimmer (like most electric razers come with), the blades are set so far apart that they actually pinch the skin - painful and slightly bloody.

Avoid this one at all costs.

Customer Review: Battery fizzles
Summary: 2 Stars

This is my very first trimmer, so I didn't have anything to compare it to. But I did notice right away that (a) it doesn't hold a charge very long and (b) takes a while to do the job, with a lot of passes. The short charge life means one more charger I have to take on vacation. It needs so many passes to do the job it takes longer than it used to take to shave, and the battery starts to wind down before I'm done. My now-retired Panasonic shaver would go a week and a half of daily use on a single charge, and I'll be looking for something that good after I get a few months out of this thing. I won't buy another Norelco.
