Customer Reviews of Philips Sonicare Advance 4100 Sonic Power Toothbrush

Customer Review: LOVE IT
Summary: 5 Stars

The first time I ever used a Sonicare was years ago and I loved it. I was sharing the base with my boyfriend so we just had seperate brush heads that we would attach when it was our turn to use it. I didn't go to the dentist for about 2 years and when I finally went, they said my teeth and gums were perfect! Then the bf had to get kicked to the curb--he took his sonicare with him. :( I actually missed the sonicare more than him! I wanted to go out and buy my own but they were very pricey. So all these years I have wanted one. Since I stopped using the sonicare, my teeth and comes have gone to hell in a handbag. My gums are incredibly receded and I ALWAYS have cavaties. Finally I searched on Amazon and found one at the right price (finally cheaper after 4 years) and bought it! I love it so much and I pray it will get my mouth back in shape. It already seems to be doing so after just a few weeks. You will love it too.

Customer Review: One of the 10 things I'd take to a desert island...
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this two weeks ago and they aren't kidding about the stain reduction. I drink several cups of tea a day and already see an improvement. As well, my teeth feel fantastic. My bottom teeth aren't straight and flossing was always a nightmare; now I just brush first and flossing's a breeze. I can't believe I waited so long to get one. I also have some gum pockets that I hope will tighten up. I'm actually looking forward to my next dental appt. to see what they say. On a practical note, I think this "cheaper" version is ample. It turns out I brush longer than 2 minutes, and if the brush beeped every 30 seconds I'd go mad. Also, I bought the compact head, which seems great; even with this extra purchase it was a lot less than the more advanced models. I know some people complained that the battery doesn't last more than a few years, but at this price, so what. Highly recommend this product to all.

Customer Review: Worked Great While It Lasted
Summary: 4 Stars

I purchased two of these 6 years ago. Mine worked great for about 4 years, then one of the two handles stopped holding a charge. Then two years later the second handle stopped holding a charge. I now get 10 seconds of brushing out of the handle and have gone back to normal toothbrushing until I decide which electric toothbrush I'm going to buy next. It will definitely be a Sonicare. No cavities in 6 years with noticeably cleaner teeth even with a high daily coffee intake.

If you are considering purchasing the 4100, I would recommend against it versus the newer models. The older 4100 has a lot more crevices (holding bacteria) and is a lot thicker (making it more difficult to reach the back of the mouth) than the newer models.

Electric toothbrushes are the way to go, but recognize that the handles are not designed to last forever and you will have to replace the heads every 3-6 months.

Customer Review: Pleasantly surprised
Summary: 5 Stars

I purchased this at the recommendation of my dental hygeinist and frankly was skeptical about it at the time of purchase. I had tried an Interplak brush years ago at the advice of another hygeinist and was disappointed with it. I kind of expected the same disappointment with the Sonicare but I decided to give it a try anyway. My skepticism turned to surprise and pleasure after the first use. I could immediately tell that this tooth brush was for real. I actually felt like I had just gotten out of the dentist's chair each time I brushed. I could go on and on about this product but will avoid all of the rambling and details and simply say "buy it". This is a good product. I have recommended it to everyone I work with and four co-workers have purchased them and all of them are as pleased with it as I am. If it breaks I will get another one even if the price has doubled. It is worth every penny.

Customer Review: They keep vibrating into pieces!
Summary: 1 Stars

Every bad review I've read for the Sonicare 4100 seems to be about the battery life lasting only 1 year (or the hilarious one about the root canal!). Unfortunately, I can't get that far! In the past year, I've gone through 3 of these toothbrushes and they keep vibrating themselves to pieces!

Mine develop tiny cracks that then spread like a car windshield due to the vibration, resulting in the brush falling apart (and no, I didn't drop them). My 3rd brush just fell apart tonight! I'm assuming that there are microscopic faults in the plastic that are susceptible to the vibration, and then spread.

I really like the brush, but so far, I've spent over one-hundred-fifty US dollars in the past year on them and I hesitate to buy another one.

Has anyone else had an experience like this or am I just cursed? Please add a comment and let me know. Thanks!
