Customer Reviews of Philips Sonicare Advance 4100 Sonic Power Toothbrush

Customer Review: Works great, like a trip to the dentist
Summary: 4 Stars

The Sonicare works as advertised, noticed a difference right away - it's like going to the dentist to get your teeth cleaned. Couple of things to keep in mind, it is (like any power toothbrushes) a little messier than a manual toothbrush especially when reaching the back teeth. The brush should be removed and rinsed after each use as liquid runs down into the base area of the brush.

Only problem, one of the tiny magnets on the end of the brush came loose somehow and stuck to our sink fixture. We didn't notice it missing right away and the next time the brush was used, it didn't seem to be vibrating much. We thought the unit was defective until I noticed the missing magnet. Stuck it back on and it worked perfectly; although, it must be in the correct orientation. Seems like they are simply magnetically held in place, maybe they should be superglued as well.

Customer Review: Will be sticking with electric
Summary: 5 Stars

I had been hearing lots of good things about the effectiveness of electric toothbrushes, and my dentist recommended getting a Sonicare specifically, so when I saw this on sale, I had to jump on it.

This toothbrush surpassed all my expectations. I had an electric toothbrush at one point when I was a kid, but I stopped using it for some reason, and the improvements between this Sonicare and the one I had 15 years ago are vast. It's much stronger, yet surprisingly gentle on the gums. The reach is excellent.

I've gotten good mileage so far out of the batteries. Like other reviewers say, it's a good idea not to charge after every use and instead only when depleted (NiCd battery). For me, that's about once a week or so.

Overall, I've been very satisfied with my return to an electric toothbrush

Customer Review: Battery Life
Summary: 5 Stars

This toothbrush is awesome! (the Oral B is an inferior product) ... Anyway ... I've seen on the other reviews that others have had ones that have died ... 3 yrs, 5 yrs ... Ours were about 5 or 6 yrs old ... My sister-in-law claims theres is about 7 yrs old... I am going to buy another one, old style because I have xtra brush ehads already, but I will definitely continue with the sonicare... good to verify that I wasn't crazy about the batteries dying... If I take the cynical view, it's good for sonicare yo have you buy a $50.00 brush than a $3.00 battery, but some things are just worht the investment... this is one of them ... Whiter, cleaner teeth with out whitening chemicals and less stressful cleanings at the dentist (P.S. I spread the toothpaste around before I start the brush... that will all but eliminate the splatter)

Customer Review: Braun Lost a Toothbrush User
Summary: 4 Stars

I have used a Braun electric toothbrush since the mid 90s. I needed a replacement due to battery power loss over 5 or 6 years. I saw a special on the Sonicare 4100 in the Golden Box and decided to try it. I am sticking with the Phillips from now on! It works smoother than the Braun with less vibration, so there is less enamel ware. It really did whiten my teeth as they claim! Comfortable to hold and use. Auto shutoff after two minutes. Easy to clean up and keep clean.

Cons:
There is no warning when 15 seconds is up, just the 2 minute shutoff. The Braun gives a 15 second warning. It is probably there in the more expensive models. Although it is still light, it is heaver than the Braun. The replacement heads are much more expensive than the Braun, since they contain gears and are larger.

Customer Review: Same thing without all the bells and whistles
Summary: 4 Stars

Going from the standard toothbrush to a Sonicare is heaven. It's amazing...really. I was skeptical until I bought one, and will never ever use another old-fashioned brush again.

This is my 2nd purchase of the same model. My first one lasted about 3 years, and the battery wouldn't hold a charge anymore. Came time to replace it, and I shopped around and spoke with a couple of dental hygenists and my dentist. Everyone recommended either the Sonicare or the Oral-B....and I wasn't ready to shell out $150 for the Oral-B. When choosing between the Sonicare's, the only real difference are the zone timers which I find annoying and the grip/angle. Wasn't worth the extra money to step up to the next model for me....they do the same thing. However, some of the newest Sonicare models do pulse at a higher speed.
