Customer Reviews of Philips Sonicare FlexCare Rechargeable Sonic ToothbrushCustomer Review: One of my favourite things, and a necessity! Summary: 5 Stars
I got this toothbrush on the advice of a friend who was studying in Dental School at the time. I was reluctant to try electric toothbrushes because I thought they were for lazy people. I had broken my right thumb at a ball game, several years ago, and while my hand was in a cast, I used one of the cheaper AAA battery powered, rotating brush. That experience was a disappointment so I went back to my regular brush when the cast was gone. But Sonicare is truly is a fantastic cleaning machine and leaves the mouth feeling almost as clean as after a dental visit. I have now owned and used it for over two years. Still runs beautifully although battery life may have gone down a bit. I've read reviews that suggest that this may be the best toothbrush out there (Although if you are buying now, check out the newer Flexcare+ model, which has a better carrying case) I prefer the slim design of the Flexcare than the fatter models from both Philipps and Oral-B. Also I read a review that said the Elite model's refills can have stuff growing inside them unless you clean it regularly. A lesser problem on this brush. I like both the 1-minute and 3-minute modes on this, but both I and my hygienist wish they had a 2-minute option. The only drawback I see in Sonic toothbrushes is that they are a bit loud in the mouth, and some days when I am half asleep or it is late night, I don't want so much ruckus in my mouth, and I choose the regular brush. Vibration causes noise and your ears are right there. Philips can't fight Physics, so don't hold it against them. While traveling, this is a much heavier toothbrush to carry, so on some trips I take the regular brush. However, if the trip is longer than seven days, I immediately notice the drop in dental hygiene. This has become a necessity. I highly recommend it.
Customer Review: Expensive toothbrush, but the results are worth it Summary: 3 Stars
This is the third Sonicare toothbrush I have purchased either for myself or other family members. The first was purchased a bit more than two years ago and is still going strong-after being used at least twice each day. Another lasted a little over a year for my wife before it started having problems charging and turning off- had to knock off two stars for that. To be fair, her toothbrush developed a slight tear in the brush stub seal, so that may have allowed moisture to enter the handle body. Still, the seal failure should not have occurred from daily use. I am careful to keep the handle clean and dry, so perhaps that helps even if the sealing is imperfect. I also let the battery run down until the brush ceases operating- then I fully recharge it (takes about a full day) before putting away the charger. I easily get two weeks of daily use (minimum twice a day, three on weekends) before it requires another recharge, and that is with using it in the full clean mode. By the way, I found a place on E bay where you can get a replacement battery if/when you need one. Just perform a search for "Sonicare FlexCare" and you should be able to find it.
Why did I state that 'the results are worth it'? I had changed dental insurance companies and therefore dentists. Because of that, professional teeth cleaning was put off for a year and a half. My new dentist remarked how clean my teeth were (this was after using the Sonicare toothbrush for that entire time period) and noted how improved my scores were over the previous cleaning record (I do keep track). My previous dentist always wanted to perform cleaning three times a year due to plaque buildup. Could simply be due to the differences in the professional staffing, but I tend to doubt it.
Customer Review: Another very good product from Phillips Summary: 4 Stars
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
Packaging: The packaging of the device was appealing and organized. The pictures and the white coloring definitely inspired cleanliness. The listing of the features of the toothbrush on the box was short but still informative.
Portability: The toothbrush comes with a travel case that is compact enough to fit in most toiletry bags, however, the brush head needs to be detached in order to fit in it. The charger is very compact and readily able to travel.
Operation: The R910 features 3 brush modes: clean, sensitive, and massage. The clean mode was very intense and takes a little while to get used to, however, once you do it is definitely the most effective mode. It gets teeth very clean as the vibrations are at a significant amplitude. The sensitive mode is a good compromise if you have very sensitive gums. While it does not clean as thoroughly as the clean mode does, it is sufficient for daily use. I would personally not recommend using the massage mode. I felt that it did not make my gums any less sensitive than the sensitive mode, but the difference in cleanliness was noticeable. The R910 also featured timers and personalizeable routines which I didn't find useful.
Overall: Overall, I would say that the toothbrush is very good. The brushes modes are definitely more effective than normal brushing. While the personalizeable routines weren't very useful, the brush modes more than made up for it.
Customer Review: works well when it works... Summary: 2 Stars
Which is rare. Okay, normally, I wouldn't have given another philips product another shot given that I have had really bad experiences with their other products and they have all died very quickly with light use. Okay, I received this as a replacement due to a previous sonicare (which was a gift) malfunctioning. Okay, I thought it was a one off with the previous one so I thought okay, i'll give it a shot and it lasted way less time. This thing was dead in under 6 months. All I did that *could* have caused it something that would speak volumes to this thing. All I did that was "out of the ordinary" was wipe away some of the gunk accumulating between the brush and the handle with a napkin with some alcohol on it. Nothing too invasive. After this, it completely died. It took it about a week to go from weak vibrations to almost non-existant vibrations as in they were so faint that I could barely feel them there. It's inexcusable for a brush this expensive to die like this over just a simple cleaning (which I have done on everything from 20 dollar Oral B Vitality brushes to more expensive ones) with no issues but for this to die that quickly from the same level of treatment. This was my 2nd failure of a Sonicare (the 1st one just suddenly died after changing out heads as well). I will never buy another Sonicare product again, i'm going back to Oral B. That aside, if you are fine with frequent failures, I must admit their warranty service is good and the toothbrush does well at cleaning your teeth. Just don't invest in a lot of heads because you probably won't get the same model back in the warranty exchange (I didn't).

I've tried just about every electronic toothbrush on the market (Sonicare Elite, Braun, Ultreo, and Waterpik), and the new Sonicare Flexcare beats them all.
Why?
1. Using the regular setting for a two-minute brush leaves my teeth feeling clean, the cleanest of any of the brushes I've tried.
2. Multiple power settings include a low power gum massage that's just great. This massage feels as though it stimulates blood flow to the gums, and that just has to be helpful.
3. Plus, for new users, there's an Easy Start program built into the brush that allows the brush speed to start slow and increase in power over several days. For users familiar with electronic brushes, however, starting with the regular (full power) setting won't be a problem.
4. The charger is solid and heavy enough to avoid the tipping over problems I've experienced with some other brushes. And there's a place to conceal the excess wiring beneath the charger.
5. The replacement brushes are reasonably priced. I won't be spending the price of a new setup every year just to get new brush heads. And I appreciate the fact that Phillips is not holding their customers hostage for replacement brush heads.
All in all, the new Flexcare is just about perfect. I highly recommend it!
