Customer Reviews of Philips Sonicare HX3351/02 Xtreme Battery Operated ToothbrushCustomer Review: This is the one! Summary: 5 Stars
I spent a few hours shopping around and reading reviews before selecting this brush and I am glad I got this one. This brush is powerful and leaves my teeth with a crisp, from-the-dentist feel and is easy to clean. Unlike the more expessive brushes I can use whichever toothpaste I choose and since I already had a 4 pack of AA batteries and charger it has cost me nothing to power it. The fact that it doesn't require a charging stand makes it easy to store and it doesn't take up antoher outlet in the bathroom. I've only had it for a month so I am hoping that it proves to be reliable. Great brush at a great price. Though it seams that the replacement brush heads may be a bit pricy (same for any electric brush).
Customer Review: Sonicar Xtreme ... a good value in my book Summary: 4 Stars
This is my second purchase of this item. The first one mysteriously quit in the manner described in other purchaser reviews. I reluctantly purchased another, since while it worked, it worked fine. The product may have an inherent deficiency (as others concluded/speculated in their reviews) where water gets in where it shouldn't and causes malfunction.
I am going to be more mindful of this in how I care for the toothbrush. There is a two-year warranty and face it, nothing lasts forever.
The price from Amazon was $22 and change, including shipping. Compare that with other models from other sources and you will agree that it's a good deal.
I also bought one for my son who thinks it's great.
Customer Review: Works fine if used properly Summary: 5 Stars
Warned by the negative reviews of this item, I take particular care to keep water away from everything other than the brush head. Used in this way, this toothbrush has served me well for almost a year without trouble. Each set of AA batteries has lasted for several months. I am happy not to have to scrap a $100+ toothbrush when the rechargeable Nicad battery dies.
I am puzzled by Philips' statement "toothbrush is designed specifically for preteens and teens" since kids are less likely to be careful to keep water away from the battery compartment.
I also don't understand why one is suppose to replacement before it shows signs of physical wear, as they recommend.
Customer Review: Poor sealing; otherwise great. Summary: 3 Stars
Like others, mine worked for 6 weeks then broke. There was water in the battery compartment. Even after drying it out, it still didn't work. I am returning it to Philips and will be getting a new one.
Why stay with this flawed device? Because it cleans better than any other toothbrush I've tried. I no longer need to floss when I use this device. It effectively cleans the spaces between teeth. I like the fact that it takes AA batteries, and it is much cheaper that other models in the model line.
Note, if you have sensitive teeth, this toothbrush is a little painful at first because the vibrations are high frequency and amplitude.
Customer Review: Philips Sonicare Xtreme Powere Toothbrush (Blue) Summary: 5 Stars
I will be able to rate the product once I get it. You mail it only in the US, so I had to have you mail it to my sister who lives there. She will bring it to me when she comes to visit. I live in Israel now, but you don't even mail to Canada where I lived before. It's very unfortunate.
Sincerely,
Dana Keren
PS - I know it's an excellent product, I have the Sonicare toothbrush which has to be plugged into a power outlet. The battery powered one is more convenient for me now, better for traveling and for countries with a different current, like Israel. If you sold it in other countries I wouldn't have a problem.
