Customer Reviews of Philips Sonicare HX6932/10 FlexCare RS930 Rechargeable Electric Toothbrush

Customer Review: Great toothbrush system.
Summary: 5 Stars

I have been using Sonicare toothbrushes for about two years now. I started off with the Elite model and have recently upgraded to the FlexCare. The best part of the FlexCare are its 5 timed brushing options: 2 minute clean, sensitive, massage, 1 minute (Go Care) and 3 minute (Max Care). I like to use the 3 minutes when I can and cut down to the 1 minute for a quick clean when I have to run out of the house in a hurry. The next best part of the timer is the quadpacer which gives a slight pause to help break up the time brushing into 4 sections. The UV sanitizing system seems like a good idea, just put the brush head in, push a button and UV light cleans any bacteria on the brush head. The new style brush heads are smaller, easier to put on and seem to keep a lot cleaner at the base where they connect to the handle. The travel charge is nice so you don't have to lug around the large charger and UV sanitizing base. It also has a nice 3 light battery level monitor. My ONLY complaint so far is with the "luxury" soft travel case. My previous brush came with a hard plastic case that fit the brush head and handle perfectly. The soft travel case is just a cheap fabric bag to throw the brush in. Not a huge deal as Sonicare has improved the condition of my teeth as I now have less problems at the dentist. I believe this is because of the sonic fast pulsing of the brush head and timer that allows me to brush for the full recommended time. If you have never timed yourself brushing your teeth you might be surprised, sometimes 2 minutes can feel like an eternity, especially if you're in a hurry.

Customer Review: Noisy luxury

Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
Electric toothbrushes of various kinds have been around for a long time now - at least since the sixties - and manufacturers are having to get more inventive about adding features to keep consumer interest. I have seen one advertised that electronically displays - on a device that you attach to your mirror - what pressure you are applying. Is that really of any use to anyone?

With this new model, Philips have released a high-end (ie horribly expensive) product that has a host of useful features but none that can be dismissed as gimmicks. You can adjust the type and strength of vibration, you have a timer that encourages you to keep brushing, a travel charger and a very neat UV sanitizer.

The quality is excellent, but it is very noisy. Also, the whole thing is designed as if for one person, with just two, different-sized brushes. Of course, you'll be able to buy extra brushes, but there's no holder for them. One reason for getting a brush like this is that it might encourage your gadget-crazy kids to brush their teeth more, so many people will require those extra brushes.

I've given it 5 stars because the quality and performance are so good, but you have to decide if you want to spend all that money on what, when all is said and done, is just a toothbrush.

Customer Review: Noisy but works extremely well
Summary: 4 Stars

I have used sonicare products for years and have progressively moved up the product line. This new Flexcare model is as they say, lighter, sleeker, smaller, but they did not mention its also louder than any other model. I did a side by side comparison using my older elite 7300 and the new flexcare model is much louder and raspier than the older unit. I called Sonicare today and they confirmed that the flexcare model is louder, but has less vibrations in the hand. Big deal. I expected it to be much quieter.

My dislike with the previous Sonicare models was the large screw-on brush head that always got a gunky build up inside of it.

No more, the brush head is completely new and similar to the Oral-B type. The brush head now just snaps on. So say goodbye to the gunky, icky build up in the brush head and handle on the previous models

Bottom line, it's a fantastic product but a little noisier!

UPDATE 05/01/2009: the extra noise I first encountered has gone away. Maybe Sonic care redesigned the brush heads? or maybe the brush just broke in?

Update 06/23?2009, My unit failed the other day, just stopped working. Thankfully this unit has a two year warranty. Called Philips and they are sending out a brand new one free of charge. Yes!

Update 02FEB2010: the replacement unit just broke. Unit fails to turn on, and works intermittently. I think it's a switch problem. All of a sudden while I was sitting in my den ,the unit started up by itself, scared the you know what out of me..!!!@#$%^@!

Customer Review: AWESOME PRODUCT
Summary: 5 Stars

WOW! WOW!! WOW!!!
Just used mine for the first time and you REALLY DO come away with that "just been to the dentist clean". REALLY!!
It does TICKLE at first, ALOT, but even by the end of my first use I was starting to get use to it.
Handle is nice size, compared to their other series, and I did not notice ANY vibration in it at all! Also, handle is lightweight which I really like and the whole thing is EASY to use!
Comes with two brush sizes and that is cool as I have a small mouth, contrary to what my friends say! Ha!
It looks MUCH SLIMMER and COMPACT and a lot less cumbersome than the previous models out there.
I understand this is their newest model and I bet it will really SELL!!
I have been considering one of these brushes for a long, long time and finally took the plunge.
I opted to go without the UV Sanitizer and that is fine with me and saved $$ in the process.
It IS expensive to start out with but I LOVE that SUPER CLEAN feeling I have now, just after brushing, even for the FIRST TIME.
In fact, I am ready to brush AGAIN, tonight! THIS IS SO COOL!!
I hope to have one AWESOME checkup at my next dental appointment.
Here's hoping for NO MORE major teeth cleaning being required.
I am in hopes that this brush, used per the instructions, and by still flossing, I will be done with that dreaded scrape, scrape, scrape of the hygenist taking off the plaque!
I would say if you have ANY desire to buy this brush, DO IT! IT ROCKS!!

Customer Review: Nice Upgrade
Summary: 5 Stars

I previously had a Sonicare Elite I had purchased at Costco about 2 years ago. I really liked it over the Oral B because the Brush heads looked more like a traditional toothbrush and seemed to feel better in my mouth vs the round heads of the Oral B.

I had 3 big issues with it though.

1. It was very large and not comfortable to hold.
2. The vibration on it was crazy insane.
3. Water/Toothpaste would get into the brush head and turn all yellow and nasty.

I picked up the Sonicare FlexCare the other day and all 3 of these issues are taken care of. Its slimmer, less vibration and the toothbrush head is much smaller and just slips easily on top of a metal rod.

I'm not sure if the UV Sanitizer thing is worth it, you can't really tell if its killing germs or not but I've put the brush heads in it a few times and it seems to cause no harm so what the heck.

The old brushheads use to say they would last 6 months but the new ones are rated at 3 months. I'm going to guess the price of the brushheads are cheaper now too because they are smaller and don't have all the extra parts the older model has, I guess I'll know in about 3 months when it comes time for a replacement.

I am sorta dissatisfied with the carrying case, it looks pretty cheap. But it is nice that Philips decided to give you a small charge adapter that you can bring on a trip.

Overall Philips did a nice job on the upgrade.
