Customer Reviews of Philips Sonicare HX6932/10 FlexCare RS930 Rechargeable Electric ToothbrushCustomer Review: Philips Sonicare Summary: 5 Stars
I have to say that this is my first experience with an electric toothbrush, and I am heartily impressed.
First of all, the look of the product is great. The handle is slim and not as bulky as others I've seen on the market when I've looked at electric toothbrushes before. The rear of the handle is rubber backed which is perfect when you've wet hands after your cleaning cycle. The buttons are easy to press and feel sure and solid in the case. The LED's are bright and show up well in a lit bathroom allowing you to choose your desired settings with ease. The additional colour rings to differentiate cleaning heads are perfect (the colours are pastel and not garish at all, in keeping with the overall design).
The unit comes with two cleaning head types, compact and regular. I opted for the regular and it felt fine and fitted between my gums and cheeks easily, something I was very conscious of when the unit was vibrating against my teeth! The travel pouch will no doubt come in useful and the brush caps will stop the head becoming dirty. There is also a travel charger so you don't have to take the more bulky UV sanitizer unit with you.
The UV sanitizer is an excellent idea and extremely easy to use. You just place the brush head inside and turn it on and after a ten minute cycle, where a small window glows magically, the brush head comes out clean and ready for the next use. I had a dry run at cleaning this unit and changing the bulb and it is all very easy to disassemble and reassemble so I have no worries when I need to do it for real.
There are three main programmes to use, Clean, Sensitive and Massage.. I opted for massage where the brush cleans for thirty seconds and then massages for fifteen seconds of each part of the cycle (there being fours parts in total, outside top teeth, inside top teeth, outside bottom teeth and inside bottom teeth. This is known as the quadpacer feature). It felt extremely comfortable and after a few minor teeth chatters as I got used to holding the brush at the required angle, it cleaned my teeth wonderfully, but more of that in a moment. There are also two timing settings, Go-Care and Max-Care. Go-Care is for those times when you're in rush and only have a limited time to brush your teeth and Max-care is the full works. A longer timed session, made easy to time with the above mention quadpacing feature.
And finally for the overall cleaning experience. I am highly, highly impressed. One reviewer here said this item is teeth licking good and I can completely agree. I too find myself licking my teeth after a clean and find they stay smooth and shiny for hours afterwards. You don't realise how flawed a manual toothbrush is and how it cannot do what this unit can until you've tried it. It feels a little loud to me, but I'm not used to an electric toothbrush, and my girlfriend insists it isn't that bad, which makes me feel it must sound louder in my head! It's more a high whine than anything else and not that excessive. I found it tickled my palette almost unbearably the first few times, which has eased a little, and I'm sure this won't be so bad once I get used to the unique and ticklish sensations. My teeth are smooth and shiny and my mouth feels fresh. It almost makes you want to brush your teeth and it is no longer a chore to do a couple of times a day, but something that is actually quite pleasant. I can only hope that feeling remains. Highly recommended indeed.

Customer Review: Worth every penny and should have purchased sooner!!! Summary: 5 Stars
So, I have been using electric toothbrushes for a few years. I have tried various brands; you know, the ones when you purchase another toothbrush when the battery dies because its too much of a hassle to get to the battery. Needless to say, there wasn't an inexpensive brand I have not tried.
My routine visits to the dentist have been less than desirable. I have had cavities and a root canal. What prompted me in considering the FlexCare stemmed from a close, self-examination of my teeth and gums and I was displeased.
I booked an appointment to the dentist but it was a TWO MONTH wait time and I needed to do something ASAP. So, after research, the reviews really spoked for themselves. I searched Amazon and used Google to get the low down on the best at home cleaning options and mostly all pointed to Sonicare products.
I particurlarly chose this brand do the sanitizing feature. Call me a sucker for gimmicks but I am a huge germ-a-phobe. Plus being able to have two brush heads in the sanitizing unit allowed for me to use different brushes during the morning and evening...another plus!
The unit itself allows for multiple cleaning options: (basic clean, sensitive setting, message setting, 1 minute clean and 3 minute clean).
The performance of this toothbrush is unmatched. The power actually caught me off-guard. Of course, I made the terrible mistake of taking the toothbrush out of my mouth during operation...HUGE MESS. The first two brushes were noticeable but by the third day, I handled all settings with no problems.
In two weeks of usage I could see a difference in my teeth. A natural whiteness appeared, my teeth FELT clean, and my gums and tongue have actually benefit from usage. My hope is that with continued usage by the time my dental appointment arrives, I will not need root scaling/planing and that my plague build-up will be minimal.
Obviously proper oral health and regular dental visits are the best method. However, for those of us that feel off track, you first two steps is to get this toothbrush (and don't look back) and find a dentist you feel comfortable with and create a plan to regain optimal oral health.
I have no "cons" on this product. I know many were not happy with the non-replaceable battery. I purchased this unit that gave TWO Flexcare toothbrushes along with two cleaning heads. If I can get 5 year usage, I will be pleased.
I would recommend users couple the FlexCare along with the Waterpick Ultra Jet (another excellent product). Tom's of Maine makes excellent mouthwashes that do not include alcohol or saccharin. Colgate Total appears to get the highest reviews for cleaning and post-cleaning protection. I also use Sensodyne's Pronamel toothpaste.
I cannot reiterate enough that with the power the FlexCare provides, I cannot imagine any other brush really doing an effective job at cleaning. I will definitely come back and following up after my second dental dentist to discuss improvements with using the FlexCare.
If you are hesitant in buying, just think dropping this amount of money on a toothbrush will likely push you to to upkeep a regular brushing habit. LOL
Gave it 5 stars because the performance is unmatched. Considering the higher price, most cannot afford to have this even though it should be attainable and because of that, overall I would rate 4.5 stars.
Customer Review: Never thought I'd be giving two thumbs up to a $180 toothbrush.... Summary: 5 Stars
I had the opportunity to receive this unit as a demo and I have been over the moon about it! Up until a couple weeks ago, I was using a battery operated oral-b disposable toothbrush. I had seen electric toothbrushes and I knew that dentists recommended them, but just couldn't imagine what was so great about them.
Two weeks of using the sonicare flex care and I have to say, I'm a total convert. When my flexcare eventually dies, I will immediately go out and replace it with the best sonicare has to offer because this toothbrush is incredible.
Other reviewers are right... this brush does take some getting used to. It will feel like an overpowered rocket in your mouth the first time or two you use it... but stick with it. Your teeth will feel dentist chair clean every time you brush. I've never been one to make brushing my teeth the biggest priority. I mean, it was something I did every day, but not something I really focused on...and I had the sensitive gums to show for it. I use the 3 minute max care cycle twice a day and truly find myself looking forward to brushing... no more "ugh, i'm already in bed and don't really feel like brushing..." I also find myself flossing a lot more too...mainly because I really see the benefits this brush offers and figure I should do the best I can for my teeth.
When I first read the reviews, I didn't really believe that the flexcare would make a difference whitening my teeth. I'm pleased to say, I was quite wrong. I already see a noticeable difference in just two weeks. I also will do extra massaging on my gums in the mornings. My gums are pretty sensitive and prone to bleeding when I brush with a normal brush, but while I've had a tiny bit of sensitivity issues (no more than when I brushed with a regular brush), my gums have not bled once since using this toothbrush, and I've used the 3 minute max care (includes 15 seconds of gum massaging per quadrant) every time I've brushed. My model only came with a standard brush head, so I'm ordering the compact because I think it will be more comfortable for my smaller mouth. I also like that it is very compact, making it quite convenient for travel.
The experience can be a bit messy, though I'm finally getting the hang of it. You definitely need to have the brush in your mouth before you start it or you'll end up with toothpaste all over you and your bathroom. I usually end up with toothpaste on the brush head stem and the base, but it is a snap to clean. I use the sanitizer every time I brush not because i'm a germaphobe, but because I'm drawn to things that are shiny and pretty and I love the litle blue light that shines through the sanitizer (yes, I'm a dork. a dork who loves her new toothbrush).
I'll see what my dentist has to say on January 21 when I go in for my six month cleaning, but I already know it will probably be my best dentist visit ever. Seriously, if you're saying to yourself "that's all well and good, but only crazy idiots who are rich spend $180 on a toothbrush," know that until 2 weeks ago, I was right there with you. But this toothbrush ranks right up there with my TIVO (with whom I have a serious relationship!) in terms of gadgets that truly changed my life. I smile more, I'm more comfortable about my smile, and I know I'm finally taking good care of my teeth. who knew!?!?
Customer Review: Great toothbrush Summary: 5 Stars
I've used a Sonicare Advance since 2001. They are, in my opinion, top notch toothbrushes.
In fact, people were such a fan of my Sonicare FlexCare that they stole it from the dorm bathroom when I went to get my toothpaste. When I discovered the loss, the first thing I did was to go online and immediately purchase another. (I ended up purchasing the FlexCare without UV, which other than having a lime green handle and no UV, is functionally identical).
Other toothbrushes rotate- this is a million steps above. The bristles clean deep. It's easy to use and has several modes. The normal clean is a 2 minute, 30 second per side (lower front, lower back, upper front, upper back) program. Then there's GoCare (15 seconds each - good if you want to do a brief brushing after a meal or something), MaxCare (3 minutes, 45 seconds each - 30 seconds normal, 15 doing a pulse). Sensitive turns down the power a bit, and oddly enough, I've never tried massage.
The toothbrush will start you off easy. If you are a regular flosser/good brusher, or you own an older Sonicare, you probably don't want 14 days of gentle ramping up. If you want to disable Easy Start for whatever reason, put the toothbrush on the charger base and hold the power button for 5 seconds. One beep means you just disabled it, two beeps means you turned it back on.
Now, time for some pros and cons vs. the ancient advance I had:
+This brush is much smaller and the rubber is more ergonomic.
+The old brushes were bulkier too, the newer brushes are better. Additionally, the older brushes had exposed magnets, which would easily detach. Newer brushes do not.
+The old handle had a recessed area. This tended to build up with all kinds of crap. This newer model is not recessed, and as per the manual's recommendation, you should wash out the bottom of the brush and the top of the handle (where you attach the brush). This probably goes without saying, but don't submerge the handle...
+The charger base on the old Sonicare was also recessed. This newer model is just like the brush handle- no area for gunk to build up.
+The UV base provides a clean, closed compartment to store your brushes, in addition to cleaning them.
-The newer brush heads are notably more expensive than the older ones.
-I paid a similar price for my Advance, and got a second brush with hard travel case. This comes with a travel charger, but no second handle, and only a soft case.
-My dentist doubts the need for the UV cleaner and advises people to buy the FlexCare without it. Better safe than sorry, and I got the UV cleaner model on sale, so it was the same price anyways.
-Just like older models, there's no removeable battery. If it stays at home, no big deal, but if you travel...
Easily recommended, great toothbrush. Sonicare support is also amazing- a friend of mine had an Elite that just died a couple months after the two year warranty expired. Philips took him at his word and shipped him a brand new brush for free- no need to send the old one back. That's customer service, in my book. Also, my Advance of 8 years worked fine- I just heard the newer models were better and opted to upgrade.
Customer Review: Incredible toothbrush! Summary: 5 Stars
In the past, I used an Oral-B electric toothbrush, and I liked it quite a bit when I first got it. It cleaned better than a plain toothbrush, and did a lot of the work for me. I also used a Crest Spinbrush, and didn't really find it to be nearly as good as the Oral-B. It served its purpose, but it only did a moderate cleaning. There wasn't enough power to really get a great cleaning from it.
Then my dentist recommended the Philips Sonicare line of toothbrushes. After looking at them, I decided on the FlexCare w/ UV Sanitizer for three reasons: 1) lots of cleaning options, 2) comes with two brush heads, 3) UV sanitizer. (I guess you could also say the reviews and dentist's recommendation played a role in the choice, too.)
I had no idea how well this brush would work until I first tried it. Talk about a HUGE difference! It's not a cheap spinning brush head, it's just vibration. You may not think that some simple vibration will clean well. But MAN does it work! (This is similar to the sonic cleaners they use for jewelry and such, except for your teeth.) With the FlexCare, I don't work nearly as hard as I did with either of my other brushes, and I get a MUCH better cleaning from it. This is one incredible brush! Oh, and that tingly feeling in your lips and gums is kinda weird at first, but you'll learn to love it pretty quickly. It's the feeling of "clean"! And once I'm done, I pop the brush head into the sanitizer for a nice, clean brush the next time I use it.
I haven't made too much use of all of the cleaning modes. I regularly use the standard "Clean" mode, which is good for everyday use. I tried out the "Max Care" mode, but it didn't do much for me. It gives you more time to massage your gums or clean additional places, I guess. I'll probably never use the 1-minute "Go Care" option, but it's nice to have if you're strict about brushing after meals and take the brush with you on the go. I have not tried the "Sensitive" option.
I like that the brush heads don't twist to lock onto the brush. You just push them down until they slide right onto it. Great design. And the brush heads are long enough to keep gunk and toothpaste suds from making their way between the head and the base. I've yet to really clean between there at all, as it doesn't need it.
Last, but not least, I love the little things on this brush. I like the battery level indicator. My Oral-B never had one, so I only knew if it was running low when it would slow down. Now I know how much battery I have left. (Not that I think I'll ever come close to draining it.) It comes with a soft travel case for keeping the brush and heads in, and a includes compact charger for travel that doesn't have the sanitizer. (An extra charger! Sweet!) The main unit has a rubberized handle grip to help you hold onto it with wet hands so it won't slip. And a 2-year warranty is nice. Hopefully it'll last much longer than that!
Bottom line: This is quite possibly the most awesome toothbrush ever invented! I don't think I'll ever switch to anything else. It's THAT awesome.
