Customer Reviews of Philips Sonicare HX6932/10 FlexCare RS930 Rechargeable Electric Toothbrush

Customer Review: Dentists review of a great toothbrush
Summary: 5 Stars

Being a dentist I have used just about every toothbrush out there for free or next to free. I have gone through everything from the old manual ones to the so called best electric ones from Oral B and Sonicare. After using both the Oral B and sonicare I must say that sonicare has to be the best toothbrush out there hands down. It takes some time to get used to, about a week or so, but after that you will love it. I clean teeth all the time with professional dental instruments consumers can not buy and this toothbrush is the only thing that comes close to the thoroughness of specialized equipment. The timer function is nice because it forces you to break up your mouth into 4 quadrants and brush every area for a full 2 min which is what is recommended. I believe that there are areas in ones mouth you can't possibly clean with a manual brush to get the majority of plaque off. This brush picks up the shortcomings of your hand motion with its oscillation almost doing all the work for you. I also believe that the UV sanitizes is a big marketing scam, its nothing more than a fancy brush head holder that can give you a blue light show when you push the button. In my opinion UV light is not sufficient to kill as many microorganisms as they seem to claim. Just rinse/soak the heads in Listerine if you are that much of a germ a phobe. The little traveling case is fantastic, I can go on trips for days and it fits snugly in my bag and does not need a charge for days. In short I highly recommend this brush to all my patients, especially those with many fillings and crowns/bridges. Combined with good flossing and mouth wash I feel this is the best you can do at home until you come in for a dental visit. It may not be cheap but its a sound investment in your mouth and is alot cheaper than what you will pay for dental work due to decay.

Customer Review: clean feeling!
Summary: 5 Stars

Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
The only other electric toothbrush experiences I had before this were the $5 Colgate battery operated from Walmart and the Braun 3D Excel (a Consumer Report favorite a few years back).

The default setting of "Clean" was too intense the first time around. It tickled my gums and I could almost not bear it. The second time around I use the "Sesitive" setting which was more tolerable. Try number 3 back on "Clean" and all was good, though it will still take a bit getting use to. The "Massage" mode is supposed to be the easiest on the gums but not as good with the cleaning so I didn't even bother with that setting.

Everything is real easy to maintain and clean or replace parts from the diagrams provided. LED for power is clear and bright.

The toothbrush pauses during brushing four times. Each time is a sign that you should be done with that quadrant so you can move to the next. No biggie, actually a nice feature. My wife's complaint is that it just shuts off after all four quadrants are "done". She prefers the Braun 3D Excel that sends you a beeping noise signalling the end but lets you keep brushing if you want. For me, I don't care. I could always turn it back on if I really wanted to and do another cycle.

BOTTOM LINE:
My teeth feel the cleanest with this new toothbrush and it better for the price! But if it can help save me from dental work, which could easily run into the hundreds or thousands even with insurance, then so be it. Worth the purchase/gift and I'm sure the dentist will say brushing twice a day would make life even better.

Customer Review: Wow this is way better than the Oral-B Triumph 9400!
Summary: 5 Stars

I have to admit that yes the sonic power & sound kind of scared me. Finally built the courage to use it & wow this thing rocks! I have been using Oral-B 8850 which had a waterjet that I thought was way out of control I could never get it to calm down, even the lowest setting was out of control, but the good thing about that model is that it had a pressure sensor, if you brushed too hard it would stop. Of course I purchased it because it was my first electric brush but I just could not afford the Sonicare so to save a few bucks I got the Oral-B. Then a while later I upgraded to the Oral-B Triumph because it had the lcd, but it just looks better than the 8850, the 8850 is a way better brush than the 9400. I have not been happy with the 9400 so I have been thinking maybe I should just get a Sonicare. I always think about that video clip that shows them vibrating in the water & how the Oral-B barely moves the water & the Sonicare goes bananas! Well I had read the reviews before I purchased & remembered the tip to put the toothbrush in my mouth before turning it on because this thing splattered toothpaste like if the main artery had been slashed on the side of my neck with just my mouth barely open LOL I am sure with time I will get used the scary sound & tingling sensation. My mouth feel very clean. Just makes me think that I wasted alot of money & time on the Oral-B's, even though when I had them I did like them alot better than a manual toothbrush, having a Sonicare now makes Oral-B barely a step above a manual toothbrush. If you are a person that has always used a manual toothbrush and are contemplating getting an electric toothbrush for the first time, I know the Sonicare costs more that is why I first purchased the Oral-Bs but now that I have the Sonicare I would tell any friend or stranger that it is well worth the extra money.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
This is the first Sonicare brush I have ever tried and I'm kicking myself for not trying them sooner! The manual action of brushing teeth can get tiring sooner or later, leading to non-brushing. That, of course, is the quickest road to the dentist's, a place we all know and love.

Well, after trying this toothbrush, I'm very pleased to know that the number of trips I will be taking to the dentist will soon rapidly diminish. Brushing with the Sonicare FlexCare toothbrush is a positive joy. I can choose from several modes (including GoCare, for when you're on the run, or MaxCare, when you have more time); I can even choose a nice, easy gum massage mode. These people have thought of everything!

It comes in a nice package with two brush heads, one smaller and more compact than the other, several easy-to-understand manuals and a travel case and a travel charger, plus the main charger which houses a UV sanitizing unit. See what I mean about thinking of everything?

The first brush with the Sonicare was an interesting experience because I wasn't expecting the feeling of a hypercharged, intensely vibrating bristles--I used the MaxCare setting. After I got used to it, I could actually feel the plaque-busting going on. Afterwards, I felt around my teeth and the gums felt great and very clean, even between the teeth without flossing. I've never felt better after a brushing, even with the Oral B electric brushes I've owned in the past.

Highest recommendations if you want good, clean teeth and lesser visits to the dentist's.

Customer Review: Great device.
Summary: 4 Stars

For a while I had been meaning to buy an electric toothbrush to try and remedy my tendency to brush too hard (worn gumlines and teeth... eek!) My last visit to the dentist made up my mind, and I bit the bullet (is that bad for gums?) and bought this toothbrush.

First time tickled a bit, after that I was already used to it. The 'adjustment period' is good. After I using the brush, I do have to say my teeth felt really clean, and I could swear whiter!

Although this seems to be the best brush on the market right now, I ultimately decided to get it because it was the most environmentally friendly one on the market due to it's battery type. For the same reason I did NOT get the UV head cleaner - the bulb has mercury. Plus, this is really stupid marketing ploy - are you daft enough to shell out for a UV bulb to save your life? ...don't do it! ;)

Another plus is, this brush can be used for any world voltage, which is great when I eventually return to my homeland of 240V@50Hz (where my old Oral B remains sadly deserted)

The quad pacer is mildly helpful, but a little weird that they decided to just turn the brush off at the end - quite often you're still doing something, brushing tooth surface, etc.

A more useful feature than the UV bulb would be if brush could tell you if you are brushing too hard, like Oral B. (I don't think any sonic-style toothbrush can do this yet)

The toothbrush is overall quiet, if it's not your mouth that it's in :) Since I share this with my partner, two full-sized heads would've been nice, but I guess having the two types is handy for many. This obviously won't sway your purchase decision though....

Overall, this brush is fabulous, and I'd definitely buy it again.
