Customer Review: Poor seal allows gunk to build up

I have been using the Sonicare toothbrush for any years and am pleased with the results (though I recommend that you not press too hard as it may damage your enamel over time) My gripe is that they couldn't figure out that the brush head is not sealed well. This quickly causes a gunk build up in both the brush head base and the unit. It is almost impossible to get it into all the crevices to clean it thoroughly even with Qtips and other implements. Eventually, you see mold and bacteria developing and this is not sanitary.
I don't know if the Oral B product is designed more effectively but I'm going to check.

I got this Sonicare the Elite {E-Series} as a Christmas gift from my parents. My dentist told my mom this is what I need to help my teeth. I used it everyday.Now wondering what to do with it was a mystery. I referred my niece to my dentist and got in return a newer
Sonicare I got a FlexCare + 900+series. Just for referring someone I care about. I ended up giving this Elite to my 2nd oldest sister.
It works just as new, just buy new replacement brushes.
My sister just has to get use to the vibrating sensation & Inky her cat who looks for that sound.

When I brush with a regular toothbrush I push to hard and it wears on my gums. It also does not clean my teeth along the gum line. The Sonicare with its ultrasonic cleaning action cleans most fully, with out damage to my gums. Oral hygiene is very important to me and this is the best product ive found. Only issues is this model gets moldy where the head attaches to the battery unit, its gross and requires daily cleaning.I imagine the newer model with the new heads cures this problem. Other is the price, a normal toothbrush is $1, but these are about $10 a piece.Customer Review: Great Product!

I was very happy with the Philips Sonicare Elite replacement toothbrushes. I had been searching for coupons or discounts for this product, but hadn't been able to find any. When I found them offered on Amazon for a very good price, I was thrilled. I was even happier when I realized I could save even more by setting up a regular subscription. This is wonderful, now I don't have to keep searching for the best price and I don't have to go out to a store and buy them - they will be brought to me. I purchased this electronic tooth brush because my dentist suggested it. I at first hesitated looking at the cost of just 2 replacement heads. I did the math...
First of all the brushing experience is 100 times better! Every day my teeth feel as though they have been cleaned by a dentist. And it performs much better and leaves less plaque which results to many dental issues.
The cost of the replacement heads are far less then an actual dentis bill, even if you have insurance. Well worth the cost for potential issues down the road.
