Customer Reviews of Philips Sonicare Xtreme e3000 Power Toothbrush (Blue)Customer Review: Avoid Summary: 2 StarsThe lifespan of this device seems to be quite limited. A couple of years ago, I bought 2 of these for my 2 boys. One of them stopped working after a couple of weeks - was able to return it to Amazon and get a replacement - and the other stopped after a little over one month. The replacement stopped working after about one month as well.
The big problem with this toothbrush is the battery compartment. Since it's using 'throw away' batteries, a bad thing by itself, there is a need for a lid to allow removal/insertion of batteries. At this price, the lid does not close tightly and water creeps in. Eventually, the entire thing stops working.
Pros for this toothbrush:
- low price.
Cons:
- short life due to almost inevitable water damage
- use of 'throw away' batteries
My recommendation: avoid.
Spend a few more and get a true Sonicare. You won't regret it. I've been using Sonicare tooth brushes for almost 10 years now. My first one was replaced after more than 5 years, mostly because I wanted a new one. My current is alive and kicking and it's likely to last for many more years if I don't choose to replace it.
Customer Review: good, cheap, and effective brush Summary: 5 StarsThis is a very good product for your teeth, all for less than other expensive e-toothbrushes.
For those users giving this product a bad rating while complaining about water corroding the battery compartment, it is obvious that these people are 1) droolers (feeble-mind), and 2) feeble-arm (since they cannot even keep the handle above their mouth for a simple two-minutes brushing). How else can the water get into the battery area.
Here is a simple solution: I went to Walmart and bought myself a roll of "white" duct tape, cut out a three inches strip, and made a one-wrap-around the battery compartment (at the far end of the handle). This will ensure that no water will ever get into the battery compartment period. The water-sealed duct tape can be easily peeled open when you need to replace the batteries 90 days later. The white duct tape will blend in with the white handle, so you hardly notice it.
Once this is done, I can brush forever while lowering the handle (relative to your mouth) without worrying about the foam running down the handle and stand it upright after I finish.
Customer Review: Perfect for travel Summary: 4 StarsThis is the second time I had purchased this item. The first Sonicare battery operated T-Brush I bought, I left it in on a bench in a public bathroom, and the janitors threw it away. So I bought the same thing again. I love this product. For a battery operated T-Brush, and at only [...] bucks, there is not a huge drop off from the rechargable version. It is perfect for everyday use, lasts forever, and is also great for vacations, trips, camping etc...
[...]
However the product is excellent.
Customer Review: not rechargeable Summary: 1 StarsThis is NOT rechargeable. Do you really want to keep on buying batterries for this? Get a rechargeable one instead.
Customer Review: Really cool toothbrush Summary: 5 StarsI always used electric toothbrushes and always wondered what makes the sonic any different.
The sonic makes you feel like you just went to the dentist Excellent cleaning. May need some getting used to due to the high speed of the bristles
