I own a pair of pinhole glasses. Most pinhole glasses are similar, except for frame shape, and frame colour. I have searched and searched for the exact glasses I bought, (from a catalogue, not from Amazon, alas), and this is the closest to mine that I can find.
Pinhole glasses DO do a wonderful, if gradual job, of training your eyes to "do it themselves", (that is, see better themselves), without the aid of regular glasses. I am of the opinion that EVERYONE should wear these, for 10-15 minutes a day, as is recommended, either to keep strong eyes strong, or to strengthen eyes that show any signs of weakness. These pinhole glasses really a good "excercise device" for anyone -- from those having the very strongest eyesight, to those with the very weakest eyesight!
However, after I bought my glasses, I noticed -- on still a third website that was selling pinhole glasses -- that they did not recommend pinhole glasses for people whose eyes were above a certain diopter. Well, my eyes are just below this diopter -- and even if they were above it, I would have continued wearing my own pinhole glasses, because I feel if you have weaker eyes, you just have to wear these glasses more often. (Yet, wearing pinhole glasses more than the recommended 10-15 minutes a day can cause headaches....and probably more serious problems, as well.)
However, I did chance to come across the "shaker top" for my "Original Magic Bullet Blender", a few days later. (Yes...this DOES figure into a review of pinhole glasses....please bear with me a
moment, and you'll easily, er....SEE the connection....)
Anyway, the "shaker top" for the original Magic Bullet Blender is divided into two parts -- one with larger holes for things like medium-or-coarsely-grated cheese, and one with smaller holes for
things like salt and finely-grated cheese. Realizing the similarity of the holes in the Magic Bullet "shaker top" to my pinhole glasses, I put up each half of shaker-top near my eyes. Sure enough -- the half with the finer, smaller holes, helped my vision a lot more than the half with the larger holes! Unfortunately -- for me, and others with "borderline vision", the larger holes in the shaker top approximated almost exactly the size holes in my pinhole glasses!
So, though my pinhole glasses, as they are now, DO help me, I think that pinhole glasses with SMALLER HOLES would do a better job. For everyone, in fact!
As I mentioned before, wearing these pinhole glasses for more than the reommended amount of time, each day, can give you a headache, and probably could be dangerous. (I don't know absolutely about the danger part...but wearing them for 3/4 of an hour like I tried to do at first, did give me a headache. So, I swithched, and now wear them
for 7 minutes 3x a day...) Smaller pinholes would solve my problem...and probably the problems of many other people, who feel they are not getting the full benefit out of their pinhole glasses.
A separate line of merchandise, similar to the present one of pinhole glasses, (but with smaller pinholes), would, I feel, be welcomed by many!
In any event, do buy and wear pinhole glasses, for a few minutes each day, whether your eyes are weak or not. They will make weaker eyes stronger and keep strong eyes strong! Like Alice in Wonderland going down the rabbit-hole, these pinhole glasses can open new worlds,
(and re-open old ones).... A small, one-time investment has rarely paid greater dividends! 8 )
