Customer Reviews of Planet Ultra Liquid Laundry Detergent, 100 Fluid-Ounce Bottles (Pack of 4)

Customer Review: Somewhat disappointed
Summary: 3 Stars

I bought Planet brand over the Eco stuff because it has much better reviews. I find that it generally cleans my clothes, but doesn't work well on stains, which is exactly what people say about Eco. I do question how well it's cleaning my stinky nightshirts... it's been a hot summer, but I should be able to wear them twice before they scream "wash me!" like they do with this detergent.

Two of the four bottles were dented in shipping, but none of the detergent leaked out. Luck?

I wanted a scented detergent, but Amazon didn't have a Planet scented detergent. So I bought the only one they had. Well, I don't like the scent this one has at all - and it does have a scent. Quite frankly, when I open the bottle, it stinks. It's not quite sulfur, but something akin to it. I don't find that my clothes stink from it, though, although I do use lavendar-scented liquid fabric softener, and my leftover non-cruelty-free name-brand dryer sheets.

I've cancelled my subscribe-and-save order, and will keep looking for something that works better. If I get desperate, Planet brand will do, but it certainly could do better. It should at least come with a stain pre-treater.

It's so sad that I have to choose stains over cruelty. I will not go back to anything tubed into rats' stomachs or poured into harnessed rabbits' eyes, but I'm still not happy with the state of this cruelty-free product.

Customer Review: Love it...can't bring myself to use anything else.
Summary: 5 Stars

I switched to using Planet detergent about 7 months ago. I switched to cloth diapers and it was recommended by the company I purchased the diapers from. My local supermarket carried it, so I figured I would try it. I was really impressed by how well it cleaned all my laundry, not just the diapers, and it was really great for both my husband and my son's sensitive skin. My son had rashes since birth and I used All free and clear, but once I started using Planet it finally cleared up completely (he was nine months old). My supermarket stopped carrying Planet a few weeks ago, so I tried to use Purex free and clear, and Arm and Hammer Essentials instead....and there is just no comparison. My clothes smell annoying, my diapers are stinky, and my son has a nasty rash. I was so excited to get my shipment of Planet in today-never thought I would get excited over laundry detergent! It's a great price with the automatic delivery too, and it arrived in just three days.

Customer Review: Buyer Beware Of Purchasing this on Amazon
Summary: 3 Stars

I can't say if this product is good. I ordered it twice and was sent back by UPS undeliverable because it was damaged. Instead of doing the common sense thing and reshipping, they decided to refund me.... like really? All of a sudden I don't need laundry detergent? I am even more frustrated that this isn't the 2nd or 3rd time that amazon has sent damaged laundry soap or dog food for that matter. Also This item went up about $5.00 since my order from less than a week ago. I have called numerous times complaining about packaging and apparently they don't care that they are losing money and most likely a loyal customer of over 7 years. Also the run around about promotional credits is ridiculous. I have always had them apply my refund as a promotional credit. Apparently if you use this and it gets returned or you want a refund, you're SOL... BUT it varies with each customer service rep you talk to, and don't bother to ask for a manager because they don't have one.

Customer Review: Lasts FOREVER!
Summary: 5 Stars

I'm always disappointed at first when I have to buy this detergent because you have to put forth $40 bucks upfront, but it is SO worth it. If you choose the free shipping option, it comes out to like $11 a bottle. Not bad, but I'm a stay at home mom who does 3-5 loads a day, and the last time I bought this pack of 4, it lasted a year and a half! Plus it's a quality detergent that you can use on a sensitive baby's clothes (Dreff is more expensive and not as good by the way). As a side note, I used to use them on my cloth diapers, but they started getting a funky odor and my child developed a rash so I stopped. After more experimentation, I found out it was doing its job wonderfully, so I'll probably go back. I just have to use a booster funk eliminator with my child, and he gets a rash no matter what detergent I use in the winter. (G-Diaper disposable inserts at night fixed the rash).

Customer Review: It's OK, but cap needs improvement
Summary: 4 Stars

For a green detergent, it does its job, but needs a few improvements. Compared to some of the other non-green detergents, it doesn't clean as well or as thoroughly, but that's a sacrifice I'm willing to make. My major caveat comes from the cap that it comes with - it has very faint marking lines inside showing how much to use - the typical user might fill the entire cap without ever noticing the lines. However, if you're doing that, you are using far, far too much detergent. I don't like things that make me use too much detergent (thereby increasing my cost per load significantly). It should do a better job on whites, which I find still need some bleach to get really clean and eliminate small stains.
