I love these clippers! It works wonderfully. The slower you move the clipper, the more hair will get into the vacuum. It doesn't get every single hair but it comes close. Empty when you need to and then continue using the clippers. The container that captures the hair holds quite a bit and emptying is fast and easy with less mess than the traditional clippers. I have used this on my 5, 13 and 18 year old and they didn't have any issues. Each of them have different hair textures and the Remington handled the differences just great. The unit isn't any louder or the vibration isn't any stronger than a traditional clipper, there are just pluses to this clipper!
I highly recommend this hair clipper!!

This looked like a good idea but...
Every clipper I'd seen before use AC power, not low voltage DC power. Result motors are not very powerful. Next on first use some hair managed to get into the vacuum motor compartment and promptly got wound up in the motor, jamming it. Worse there is no way to disassemble it even partially to clean out hair that WILL get inside so it's lifespan is very questionable.
Lesson learned. You don't need special clippers or trimmers to cut your own hard, all you need is a quality set of clippers with a set of cutting combs for various desired lengths of hair.
Do yourself a favor and buy some real clippers, not this kiddie toy junk.

This is the best there is. I have been cutting kids and now grandkids hair for over 34 years. This is the best there is. It is smooth and quiet, light weight and the built in vacuum system blows away anything out there. On the down side I have a few criticisms - the motor is not strong enough and neither is the vacuum. In addition it is not a durable product.... I am on my THIRD one - the blades simply do not last (don't stay sharp). Now then you might wonder why I rate it so highly with those criticisms, well the answer to that is that the positives WAY outweigh the negatives. If, however, someone else came out with the same thing but improved... I would switch to that one.Customer Review: Great Dog Grooming Clippers

If it wasn't good the Baracuda wouldn't buy it. She purchased two kits to supplement the one we already have to groom our seven pound dog. That's crazy! Pets come and go though and we have had up to three dogs that needed grooming. If you've ever clipped a pet you know about cleaning up hair afterward. With the vacuum feature that is eliminated. We purchased the clippers with the expectation that they will last a lifetime. The only drawback is that the clippers get really really warm, so when one gets uncomfortable the Baracuda swaps to another. Remington has stopped producing the HKVAC-2000 so available stock is the only way to go. Happy clipping.Customer Review: Excellent

I've been using this trimmer for 9 months, using it to cut my own hair. In general it does a good job. I don't get "professional" results - no one would think that I just came from a barber. But after cutting my hair, I just don't look like I need a haircut.
The trimmer is relatively big, so it is not ideal for precision work, like around the ears or sideburns. I bought a smaller trimmer for that. But for simply cutting hair it's perfect. The vacuum really works, the trimmer hasn't clogged, and has probably saved me over 200 bucks, while making my life more convenient.
If it busted tomorrow I'd buy another one in a heartbeat.
