Customer Review: Don't buy a foil shaver!

I tried this with a Remington foil shaver. Neither one was worth the money. The shaver did a lousy job with and without this stuff. The face saver should probably be called razor saver. The only benefit that I can see from face saver is that it helps lubricate the razor. And gives remington something to sell while they wait for you to buy a new razor.
I recommend a rotary shaver if you need electric.

I've always had to shave infrequently with a blade, or else use a clipper, leaving stubble, in order to avoid breaking out. FaceSaver changed that. It is essentially just parafin and talc -- I very much wish they would stop adding perfume -- so it should be inoffensive to even the most allergic users. It allows a smooth shave without rashes, burns, or pimples. I recommend it highly.Customer Review: Bit of a mixed blessing

This talc-based product definitely helps avoid irritation from using an electric shaver. Unfortunately it also tends to gum up the shaver heads, and can sometimes make it harder to get a close shave. So while I like what it does to my skin, I don't care for the end result after the shave. I have been using Remington FaceSaver electric pre-shave powder stick
for at least ten years and prefer it to liquid pre-shave products. It
gives me a close, comfortable shave. I would recommend all electric
shaver users to give it a try. Just remember to brush clean your
cutters after each shave to prevent a build up of powder and whisker
residue.

It is talcum powder in stick form, so it lubricates your skin and dries up any residual humidity so the shaver can slide over your skin more easily. I expect a stick will last a very long time as little is needed for each application. You will probably want to wash your face again after to remove the residue. This may help if you have sensitive skin.
