Customer Reviews of Remington Short Cut Clipper Rechargeable, Cordless, Haircut KitCustomer Review: Hard to Recommend to Others Summary: 3 Stars
After getting the clippers, I was extremely excited to find a foolproof way to trim my boyfriend's hair or even he could do it himself. Unfortunately, the first couple times using this device has been a bit of a miniature disaster ending in discomfort, hair-pulling, uneven overall cut, and bald spots.
These clippers are not recommended for those with thick, curly hair. The arrangement or even the sharpness of the blades make it useless if not dangerous for said persons.
The only pros I can think of are the slim, compact look of the clipper and how it indeed offers various settings to toy with. I think that it is a bargain. Additionally, it is RELATIVELY easy to clean the hair from the clippers themselves. However, cleaning after yourself when this thing flings hair all over your bathroom floor is a different story.
The other cons unrelated to hair types are the battery life and the quality of the parts. The battery life is extremely short. It takes hours to fully charge. Once charged, hope to God that you have hands quicker than lightning or you may end up with half your hair untrimmed. Secondly, the parts that it comes with are thin and flimsy. I have not broken anything yet but you must be extra gentle when cleaning the clippers because the guide bars are made of very flimsy plastic. You must pull very hard to get it out to clean and each time I wince because I think it'll snap in half. I think they should have stuck with a more sturdy material. Lastly, the contour of the clippers leaves some areas of hair longer than others. Areas of concern are on the sides right above the ears. It must be complemented with other clippers.
I probably won't buy this again for anyone but it was a nice concept that needs some development.
Customer Review: Works well for very short hair Summary: 4 Stars

This is a clipper & trimmer in one. The trimmer slides out from the top & both are controlled by the power button. It has a 40 min use on rechargeable battery built-in so it's cordless. It cannot run plugged in once it runs out (14-16 hours to charge). The settings are done by dial to pop up/down the plastic comb 1-4 for 1/8" - 1/4". Supposedly you can also rinse the blades. The instructions say to use short strokes & don't move it too quick or you'll feel a pulling sensation. If you rinse the unit, you must re-oil it w/the tiny bottle of oil they provided or just use the small brush they give.
I had one family member try this on his very short hair though only in the back since the hair on top is slightly more then an inch & he did not want to cut it that short as well. The result in the back fixed a bad job the barber did & look perfectly uniform. We used the trimmer to clean the hairline in the back for a very polished job.
For $30 he said he would buy this unit. Another family member had even longer hair of 2-3" so he only used the trimmer on the back of his head for the hairline & as a beard trimmer which he said worked well.
It is designed well, especially the cordless feature since you would probably be slapped in the head if it was plugged in. I did hit the power button while using it once, it seems an overly large size of a button. The trimmer slides forward & has a locking button as well.
I think this was designed very well, I just wish it had even longer cutting lengths even just up to 2" or even a full inch.
Customer Review: easy to use after a few tries, great for short cuts, beats paying barber for #1 trim Summary: 3 Stars
After hitting the barber every 2 weeks to get my hair shaved down to 1 guard, I bought a pair of regular clippers and had my wife cut my hair for about 6 months. This paid for itself after a couple of haircuts, but coordinating time for her to do it proved to be harder than just going to the barber. I ordered this Remington Clipper and am able to do it myself pretty easily.
My hair is thinning and I use this on the shortest setting. If my hairstyle was any more complicated, I don't think I'd be brave enough to try it with this device, but if you're reading this, you're probably in the same boat. For this application, it works great.
The first time I used this, it didn't look that good and my wife had to help me touch it up. By the third time, I was able to do it on my own without any help. It takes a little practice of following the contour of your head in a few areas like above the ears, but once you get it down, it is easy. I'd recommend keeping a hand mirror to check the back of your head, though, as it is easy to miss spots if you can't see back there.
My only complaint is that it feels a little flimsy. It does not feel as solid as the traditional clippers I bought at around the same price as it is entirely plastic other than the cutting blade. There's something in it that rattles if I shake it.
If it breaks, I'd buy a new one right away, which is always a strong recommendation for a product. (I'm hoping they'll still be making them by that point.)
I haven't had any problem with the charging. I usually throw it on the charger after I use it and it still has enough charge to cut my hair the next time I use it. (I've only had it a couple of months, so the battery life will probably diminish over time.)
Customer Review: Great Idea Poorly Executed Summary: 1 Stars
When I first purchased the Short Cut Clippers, I thought they were one of the best ideas ever to get a close, balding type cut. The cut was great and the use was easy, much quicker than with my 15 year old corded Conair clippers, and they were a brand I trusted, Remington, the same brand as my 10 year old foil shaver.
After several uses, it started to act as if the batteries were running down during the cut. They would turn on and right back off. I found that if I oiled the blades, they would run again for a while, and at least let me finish the cut. As time went by, they would always start the cut, but stop before I was done. Sometimes oiling would help, and other times, they would continue to start and stop over and over again.
Having not kept the receipt and not being able to remember if I registered the product, I figured I would look into the problem myself. With the unit apart, I could not make it stop running. It did not appear to be a battery problem, but some kind of mechanical binding problem. I actually used it for several months with the outside case off, and it worked fine. After a couple more months of messing with it, and with it no longer charging, I pitched it in the trash and chalked it up to a defective one that got through the system.
As I was looking through Amazon.com today for some sort of similar clippers, I ran across the Short Cut Clippers again, and found that almost everyone was experiencing the same problem that I had, though most thought of it as a weak battery problem.
These clippers were a great idea poorly executed. With so many people complaining of similar problems, Remington should have some kind of recall or reimbursement for these clippers.
Customer Review: It does work, but plan ahead... Summary: 4 Stars
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
First things first - does the product work?
Absolutely - as advertised. I used it just 3 days ago and I had no problem doing most of it by myself. I just needed a little help on the back and around the ears, but I probably could have done that with a little more creative mirror work. The charge held well and the cut is even and nice-looking.
But..
The entire process is time-consuming. It took me over an hour and a half from prep time through clean-up.
Why so long?
Well, this little thing creates a lot of mess with little bitty pieces of hair so I cut my hair in the garage so I had to move cars and such. I DO NOT recommend using this clipper in your house.
All of those little hairs get caught up in the clipper so I had to stop frequently, remove the guard/comb and dump those hairs in the garbage can.
I still needed someone else to help around the ears and the back of my head. If you were going for the lowest setting this may not be an issue.
Sweeping up takes a while and you'll have to shower afterwards. I was shocked at how many little bits of hair came off in the shower. I had to clean the drain trap out more than a dozen times while showering afterwards.
You'll have to decide for yourself if it is worth all of the hassle. Personally, I found that I would save time and hassle by going to my barber getting my traditional buzz cut, even with the driving time included.
