Customer Reviews of Remington Short Cut Clipper Rechargeable, Cordless, Haircut KitCustomer Review: Work for long cut too! Summary: 5 Stars
I want to add a point that I did not see a lot in the reviews: This product is doing great job too when you want to keep long hair!!! I'm the alive proof and I'm impressed about how it was easy to get a decent long cut, let says about one to three inches for me depending of the location; I mean you can also handle the ShortCut clipper to have longer hair in front and shorter in the back of the head. To realize a long cut, just keep the ShortCut clipper at the end of the hair (not on skull) to remove just some hair and repeat until you have removed what you want.
I'm sorry Remington but you will have to rename your clipper "Short/medium clipper".
Like a lot of people said, I was tired of going to spend time and money to the barber and I was looking for a traditional clipper but I was not ready to cut my hair very short as you know like ¼ inch or something like that. Then I saw the short cut clipper. But Remington never said in their documentation that their product was able keep hair longer than ½ inch. More over, reviewers at Amazon did not really talked about that possibility since a lot of people just want short hair if not skin head!
I saw that some people complained about the long battery charge but I'm really not afraid about that. The battery had enough power to do my first hair cut and after a few hours of charge, I remove some more hair to do a perfect job but I'm sure after some practices, one full charge will be enough. I think Remington choose a smaller adaptor with lower milliamperes to extend the battery life to a maximum.
So I want to highly recommend this product not only for short cut hair but also for people just wanting to remove some hair.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
My grandson has always had very long hair, between ear length to shoulder length and I have zillions of photos of him running, playing, jumping, with his hair whipping around. A little athletic hippy child he was.
Then all of a sudden he wants it cut short. He's six, so he should be able to decide for himself, but I asked him several times if he was sure and he said he was.
"It's hot out," he said.
"But are you sure?"
"Sometimes, when I'm eating ice cream I get hair in my mouth."
"But are you sure?"
"All my friends have short hair."
"Okay, let's do it." I said.
And that's where this baby, the Remington Short Cut Clipper comes in. I already owned it, was wondering who I was going to use it on after my hubby (did the back of his neck). So now was the perfect chance to put it to the test.
Obviously I couldn't take the machine straight to his head, shore his golden locks the way a sheepherder does sheep, so I got out my scissors and cut his hair, leaving about an inch all the way around. Pretty awful looking. Then I trimmed it with the highest setting and that was it.
I have to say, I'm not used to his hair looking like that, but he loves it. Something about looking like all the other kids, or at least with the ones he's playing with now. Will he grow it back out, who knows, only time and styles will tell.

Customer Review: great for crewcut maintenance Summary: 5 Stars
I've read the reviews good and bad, and decided to purchase it anyway because the method of "combing" with this clipper seemed like it would be a much more natural action than trimming with normal hair-clippers.
I am not disappointed. In fact, I've found that I can neatly trim the back of my neck with this. This is something I've never been able to do by myself with conventional clippers.
The caveat is that it is a great tool for maintaining the length of a short haircut, but but not such a great tool for cutting hair that is not already in a crew cut. You will need a conventional clipper or a trip to the barber to start out.
When I received it, I plugged it in to charge a whole day before use. Upon initial turn-on the motor started with an enthusiastic buzz, but then dropped in pitch and held a steady, but lower, speed. I initially thought that perhaps I had a unit with a bad battery that would not hold a charge, however I've used it extensively for a few weeks and it always keeps going for as long as I've needed to run it. I guess it just starts up "fast", but the lower steady speed is the normal speed.
I'm happy that I can do a really quick trim to maintain my haircut once or more each week. It is cordless, so I can do this in the shower-stall (without water) to contain the mess and then just rinse away the trimmings, which are no bigger than shaving stubble. I also use it to maintain my beard. The comb-shape is not quite as natural a motion for that, but it is, nevertheless, effective, neat, and fast.
In sum, I recommend this trimmer 100% for maintaining an existing crew-cut.
Customer Review: Decent product - good for DIY buzz. Battery doesn't last that long Summary: 4 Stars
This is my second Shortcut. I bought one right when they were first released and I've been pretty pleased with it. It makes getting my hair cut down to near nothing a breeze compared to using traditional clippers.
Fair warning, I use it with the balding comb and set the guard to it's lowest height. The result is equivalent to about 2 days after shaving my head with a razor; longer than day-old stubble, but not much.
The Shortcut makes it easy to get my hair cut evenly so I don't miss patches like I've done before with traditional clippers.
If you have really thick hair, or let it grow too long the Shortcut may not be the best tool to knock it down. I've had a few times where I needed to buzz my hair first with clippers and then clean it up with the Shortcut. When I go more than 2 or 3 weeks between trims is when this is needed most. Otherwise I try to clip my hair weekly or every 2 weeks and the Shortcut works great for that.
My beef is that you can't use this while plugged in. So if the battery is dead you're not getting a cut. Also the battery doesn't last very long. Mine will now only hold a ~10 minute charge and it's obvious that it's not running the motor nearly as powerfully as when it was new. I'm going to hack my original Shortcut now that I have the new one and see if I can bypass the charging safety circuit so it can be used plugged in.
Despite the battery problems, I like this tool. Even if I have to buy one yearly, that's a heck of a lot less than paying for a haircut every 4 to 6 weeks.
Customer Review: Worth buying Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this clipper to cut my own hair because the shops around here charge me overall $5-8 more per haircut than they do my husband. I don't get a shampoo or any kind of cut or style that should cost more. I just get a regular short cut. This clipper paid for itself in the first 2-3 haircuts I gave myself.
It charges fast & holds a charge very well. It's easy to clean. You can wash it out under running water to get the little hair chips out of it. It's light & shaped nicely to your hand.
I have found that it doesn't cut as short as they say it does. I use the #2 setting for the top of my head & the 1.5 setting for the sides & back. I'm thinking of trying the #1 setting for the sides next time just to see if that's better. I also use the regular guard rather than the balding comb thing. I have found too that if you don't wait long between cuts it does better. I have very, very thick hair. It isn't overly fine but it isn't real coarse either. I get a better cut if I don't let it get too long.
Overall it's a great tool & it makes it so that I don't ever have to spend 45 minutes in a chair trying to convince some timid hairdresser that I really DO know how short I want my hair & then still leaving disappointed that I never could get it like I wanted. Now, I do it myself & I'm a lot happier. And after the first 2 or 3 cuts, it had paid for itself so now it's just savings for me.
I would buy a replacement of this clipper if mine broke today. I have been happy with it.
