Customer Reviews of Remington Short Cut Clipper Rechargeable, Cordless, Haircut KitCustomer Review: In short, it works Summary: 5 Stars
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
If, for whatever reason, you want to avoid hairdressers and cut your own or your family's hair, then you will need more than one tool for the job. Clippers work well for longer hair and for the top of the head, but are very unsatisfactory for the back of the head and the neck. That's where the Short Cut comes in. You can now finish trimming that hair at the back, where the clippers left off. And very simple it is, too.
Of course, if you keep your hair all-over short, then you can use only the Short Cut and ditch the clippers. Just be careful to get the settings right, and only use the balding comb if you mean it. Be warned it comes fitted with the balding comb. Start with the lowest settings and cut gradually shorter if you want.
It is light and easy to use, especially as it is used cordless. The charge does not seem to last very long, but you can keep it plugged into the charger between uses, as it cannot overcharge. The `green' charging light looks very blue to me. That, and some other shaky prose, lead me to think that the manual for this made-in-China product was written by someone whose first language was not English. Nonetheless, read it carefully before using the Short Cut, because it contains some useful information.

Customer Review: Easy, and good for babies Summary: 5 Stars
My husband uses this for his military haircuts, and I was leary about using it for anything else. However, our baby has gotten a bald spot on the back of his head, and is only a few months old, and I didn't want to take him to a barber yet. I used these by myself, with the baby on my lap. Because his hair is very fine, this took about 10 minutes to cut the top to about an inch and the sides to about 1/2 inch. His hair looks a lot better, and because you don't need to worry about the clippers being a certain angle to cut, he was very happy throughout the haircut. I had to shake the clippers a few times because his fine hair got stuck in the guard, but it was a million times easier than worrying about scissors or a stranger with clippers on a baby with no motor skills. The haircut looks professional (when my husband got home, he said 'looks like you took him to the barber'). Very very easy to use, doesn't take skill, just make sure that you use the combs with the guard that goes across the bottom in places and not the one that is open at the bottom. Would recommend to everyone who wants to cut their baby's hair, or anyone who wants to do their own short cuts. Do not know about cutting adult regular cuts, because that's not what we've used it for.
Added on 3/15/2011: Once the batteries have been charged a few times, there is no way to keep a charge. You can plug it in constantly when not being used, but they will die after only a couple minutes. Had to eventually throw them away. Too bad.
Customer Review: A personal clipper Summary: 2 Stars
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
This short hair clipper comes with lots of promises, but when I used this equipment to trim my hair, the result was not what I expected. I thought it would give a uniform haircut but I found that clipping was uneven and at some places it did not clip. Someone who prefers personal grooming and has the experience to use this type of machine may be able to use this a little more effectively. I prefer professional grooming; hence I did not find this equipment very useful.
The clipper also comes with an adjustable guide combo, and trimming attachment that could be used for trimming hair on ear. The machine comes with rechargeable adapter.

My husband has been cutting his own hair for years, to save time and avoid "bad" haircuts. He has tried both Phillips and Wahl clippers.
Remington Short Cut Clipper is very lightweight and handy. It's a plus that it is cordless but unfortunately it cannot run without a cord (we have actually run out of power in the middle of a haircut). The longest haircut you can get is 1/2 inch - which is really short. My husband does not have bald patches (yet) but his hair is very fine and thin. With 1/2 inch haircut too much skin is showing in my opinion.
It's extremely easy to use - you simply brush through your hair. The comb is much wider than in typical clippers, meaning you will get job done faster. Like with any clipper, getting behind ears is not easy but doable. Cleaning is very easy: remove the comb and blade protector and brush the small hairs out. You can also wash it.
I don't know if my husband will keep on using it. If Remington made a version with 1 inch length I would buy it in a heart beat.
Update: My husband has kept on using it, because it's so easy. He uses the clipper on a weekly basis - just "combs" his hair through. I am slowly getting used to his new "Marine" look. Actually, not bad;-)
Customer Review: easy to use, gives good short haircuts Summary: 4 Stars
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
I was pleasantly surprised by how well my first haircut turned out. Never having cut my own hair before, I wasn't sure what would happen. I purposefully cut my hair on a Saturday morning so I could still make it to my barber if I ended up butchering my hair. Instead I got a haircut that doesn't look that much different than what I would have paid $28 for.
As the manual recommends, I started out with a longer setting and then worked my way down. I ended up using the 1 1/2 setting for the sides and back of my head and 3 for the top. This yields an extremely short haircut on the sides and back with just a little bit of hair on top of the head. I've had a couple of friends look at my haircut so far and neither of them could tell it was done by myself at home until I told them so.
My only real complaint is what others have mentioned: The sideburn trimmer doesn't work that well. I ended up using a small pair of scissors to clean up the hairline around my ears. Because it's really difficult to hold the clipper at the correct angle to make a clean line at the back of one's own head, I ended up using my Body Groomer for that.
All in all, this is a good product that will pay for itself in just a haircut or two.
