It's good for the price and I always thought it worked very well. However, upon trying a more expensive iron of my friend's (Chi 1"), I realized that you get what you pay for. Although it works, it does not straighten as well as some other irons. You will have to spend more time on your hair, especially if your hair's naturally wavy like mine.
If you want something faster and that will leave your hair silkier, invest a little more.

this straightener worked really good at first. i had really thick longggg hair and it straightened it pretty quickly. i had it for about two months and then it just stopped heating up. the handle would heat up and the little red light would go on but there was no heat on the ceramic at all. its really frustrating cuz i really liked it. i will not buy another revlon flat iron because this happened to my friend also.Customer Review: Good, but...

My roommate already has a Vidal Sasson one that looks exactly the same, but since I'm moving out soon, I wanted to get my own. This one works fine, but it's just not as strong as hers. I have thick long hair so it takes a couple more tries than the vidal sasson one to straighten a section of hair, but if you have shorter or thinner hair, you shouldn't notice much of a problem.Customer Review: One of the best flat irons that I've ever used

This iron works great on my coarse hair even on a low heat setting. Just don't be fooled by the newer version of this iron in which the word "Ionic" was added. The upc numbers are exactly the same. It's just a sales pitch to make the iron sound better. Heated ceramic material produces ions, so any iron out there with the word "Ionic" is no different than a plain ceramic iron.Customer Review: Excellent Buy

I'm extremely happy with the iron. It works well with my frizzy hair, it tones it down! I love the swivel cord, it's so comfortable and convenient when going from one side to the other. When you want hot, it gets HOT. It is very quick and only takes a few seconds to warm up. I'm very happy with it and would definitely recommend it.
