Customer Reviews of Revlon RV544 1875 Watt Tourmaline Ionic Lightweight Dryer, Silver/Black

Customer Review: very nice hair dryer UPDATE
Summary: 4 Stars

I've been using a Vidal Sassoon travel hair dryer for years and it was time to replace it. I started looking at more expensive brands and was about to pay $139 on a light weight Sedu. I asked my hairdresser for recommendations and she actually told me to save my money and buy a drug store brand. After reading all of the reviews on Amazon, I settled on the Revlon RV544. It's bigger than my travel hair dryer but it's about the same weight and it's a lot more powerful. I've only used it a few times but I like it. Unlike some reviewers, I don't find the buttons poorly placed and I think the cord is a good length. Bottom line, you can't beat the Revlon RV544 for the price.
UPDATE: I've changed my mind about this blow dryer. I have a lot of fine, layered hair. The blow dryer doesn't give my hair body. I thought my hair was looking flat because I was in need of a hair cut. Then I used a blow dryer at my gym and my hair looked fine. I realized that it's not my hair, it's the dryer.
NEW BOTTOM LINE: Based on the positive reviews, I think this hair dryer is good for people with thick or curly or frizzy hair. I can't recommend it for people with fine hair.

Customer Review: Better than my old Professional dryer!!!
Summary: 5 Stars

Growing up I worked in hair salons and my sister is currently a hairdresser so I've used many amazing 'Professional' hair products and styling tools. I've always believed that 'you get what you pay for' and spent over $60 (at a hair show) on a professional hair dryer, the CHI Nano in Pink, thinking it would last forever and would do less damage to my hair. Well, after just 1 year, my CHI has stopped working although, it worked well while it lasted. I began to research online various models including serveral T3 models which are priced above $150. On my last trip to Walgreens I figured I would get a cheap hair dryer to hold me over until I had more money to purchase the one I really wanted. $21.00 later, and I have no regrets or intentions of spending $150! This Revlon dryer has really changed my perception on 'cheap' blow dryers. I would recommend it to anyone. It is SUPER light, not extremely quiet (it is 1875 watts!), and drys my thick head of wavy hair in the same, if not less time, than my expensive CHI dryer AND my hair is so soft even after I use my flat iron to tame those random wavy pieces =) I can't say anything but good things about this product. It's amazing!

Customer Review: Quite large & loud - Strictly a value proposition
Summary: 3 Stars

This large handheld hair dryer is loud and takes a little too long to dry hair. I've had smaller ones that were more powerful and less noisy, but went for it because it looked like a bargain. If the diffuser attachment is important to you, that could cinch the deal. I found the attachment to be entirely ineffective, but it might work if you drape really long hair onto it.

Ionic - this product is marketed as ionic. It has an ion indicator light. The Revlon website doesn't list this product, and I couldn't find anywhere a claim to the effect that it imparts a negative charge to the air. It's reasonable to expect Revlon to state whether it has an emitter and leaves only negative ions in the exhaust.

Unfortunately, quality handheld hair dryers cost a lot more. You have to look at this as a value purchase, and because it's so large, you should have the space for it. Here's an example of a truly good hair dryer that also costs much more: T3 Bespoke Labs 83888-SE Special Edition Evolution Professional Ionic Ceramic Tourmaline Hair Dryer.

Customer Review: Not a bad hair dryer for the price. Dries hair quickly!
Summary: 4 Stars

I have thick, coarse, wavy hair to the middle of my back...that I like to wear straight. My old hair dryer would take a good 20-30 minutes to dry it, and that was with me brushing and pulling and exerting some effort. So imagine my wondrous surprise when this hair dryer did the same job in about 10 minutes--no lie! And it is SO light!!

I do agree with some of the other reviewers that the buttons are not placed very well (although I only accidentally turned it off once), and I have to say that I wish the "cold shot" button was able to lock in the "on" position (like my last dryer did).

I tested the sound against my old dryer (probably five years old, but the same wattage and also ionic), and they were about the same, but the Revlon is much lighter and dries the hair much faster. The air stream did seem a bit higher, but that was fine with me since I need that for my hair. And overall, my hair looked the same as it did with my old dryer.

So, for a new mom with not much time for hairstyles, this hair dryer is a winner. It only gets knocked down to 4 stars because of the button placement and the cold-shot button.

Customer Review: GREAT value
Summary: 5 Stars

I've wanted an ionic dryer for a while, ever since the T3 came out with all that hype. After reading enough positive reveiws about this dryer, and ionic dryers in general, I finally purchased this one today. I'm so impressed!! My hair is bouncier, shinier, has no frizzies, and dried in about 3/4th of the usual time. DH, who is really clueless about such things, even commented that it looked better than usual. It also feels really soft - which is nice, as both my skin & hair tend toward dryness.

I have pretty fine hair - but alot of it (i.e., the hair follicles are thin, but I've got a lot of them.) My hair generally looks shiny on it's own, is stick straight, but has NO volume or bounce. I turned it on the "high" and "warm" setting to get it 80% dry, then put the concentrator on and turned it down to "low" (it was drying too fast!) to finish. I use a 3 1/2 inch Marilyn Tuxedo brush to finish drying in sections, concentrating at roots and ends.

I would definitely recommend trying this dryer before forking over $300 for the T3 or another model. I can't see how those more expensive ones could do a better job.
