Customer Reviews of Revolutionary, Patented SLEEP MASTER Sleep MaskCustomer Review: Its like a friendly alien on your face Summary: 5 Stars
The velcro allows you to really get the mask nice and tight so it won't slip while you're tossing and turning at night. You may remember the movie Aliens, and the little face sucker that attached itself to your face and injected you with its alien eggs? The mask is like that, but instead of covering your mouth and nose and using you for breeding purposes, this friendly little mask covers only your eyes and ears and quite possibly whispers sweet nothings directly into your brain. The first night I wore the mask I slept wonderfully, but I did have a dream that I was trying to drive my car with the mask on, and then I had another dream that I was blind and wondering around a local shopping center. I am fairly certain these were just dreams, but in case it wasn't a dream, my experiences would have to force me not to recommend driving or wondering around the mall looking for neon hotpants while wearing this mask. Comfortable fit and really keeps out the light and noise of the world, but may cause wacky blindness dreams. Since I enjoy both sleeping soundly and wacky dreams, this mask gets a well deserved 5 stars.
Customer Review: Great design, but fabric pigment comes off on my pillow Summary: 3 Stars
I bought this mask and another more traditional mask at the same time. The other one would never stay on through the night with my tossing and turning. This Sleep Master stayed on very well, and I consider the sound dampening a plus. LIght inevitably creeps in at the bottom by my nose, so that part is not perfect. All in all, my guess is that this is one of the best masks for keeping out light while staying on your head with a lot of tossing and turning.
But one of the main features of my mask has been it tendency to transfer a lot of black pigment onto the pillow and sheets, enough to ruin them with stains. I'm sure I sweat a bit under the mask, but not effusively. I've washed the mask twice in the washer, and it still transfers pigment. I have had to use a "guest pillow" without any pillow case so that I don't mind getting pigment all over the pillow. I haven't seen anyone else complain about this, so I'm stumped. I'm going to wash it a couple more times to see if that helps. If you buy this product, I recommend testing it out on a pillow case that you don't mind ruining.
Customer Review: Love it! Summary: 4 Stars
I started using a t-shirt to cover my eyes around 13 years ago when roomed with someone who worked shift work. While I don't have someone keeping me awake at all hours these days, I have found that something covering my eyes helps me sleep and after 13 years, I decided to try this night mask instead of a t-shirt. I am glad I did. This is so much more comfortable than the tshirts I've been using.
Someone said the velcro bothered them, but unless you generally sleep on your back and have a hard pillow, I doubt you will have a problem. I have slept on my back many times with this, but have a nice down pillow and haven't really noticed the "velcro bump" in the back.
The only reason I give it a 4 is that it does bleed onto all my pillowcases...even after 2 months. I tried washing it right after getting it, but even after two months it often leaves blue to black stains on my pillowcases. I've only reused one of the sheet sets since I got it and I did notice that not all of the stain was removed in washing. Personally, I find the stains much worth the benefit though.
Customer Review: Thoughts from a chronic insomniac Summary: 3 Stars
I've blown through a bunch of eye masks over the years. Most have the same problem, the straps get stretched out and the mask doesn't fit tightly enough to seal out light.
Although the Sleep Master mask is unique, it just didn't work for me. If light elimination were the only criteria, then this mask nails it. It blocks every bit of light even in the brightest environments but this comes at a price: comfort. There's no nice way to say it, this is the most claustrophobic, uncomfortable mask I've every worn. It feels like my head has been bandaged up using bungee straps. It's huge, it's heavy, and it needs to be very tight in order to stay on for any length of time. One of two things happened when I wore this mask, I either threw it off in the middle of the night or it kept me from falling asleep until I put my old, tattered mask on in it's place.
This isn't to say it's not a well-manufactured mask, because nothing could be further from the truth. Unfortunately it just doesn't compare to the lighter, more comfortable mask designs in my opinion.
Customer Review: Finally someone got it right! Summary: 5 Stars
I've been using this mask for several weeks and it totally outperforms all the other masks
I've tried. Here are the major differences that make the mask my mask from now on:
It's soft and light and cool - I forget I'm wearing it. It goes over the ears generously so
your ears are not crushed or irritated while you sleep. This also aids in muffling sound
for better sleep. It has a simple adjustable velcro strap so you can fine tune its fit and leave
it there as your own custom fitting. One can also turn their head in different positions
without having the mask lose effectiveness or comfort. What surprised me most was that while other masks
try odd shapes and different thicknesses and try to make themselves stand out they really wind
up being like all the other ones - clever solutions that don't really apply to someone who just
wants to cover their eyes to rest or sleep.
It definitely should be patented. I'd like to say I wish I thought of it but the truth is I'm just glad I have one!
