Well, I'm not quite sure what is revolutionary enough about this to patent.
It's basically a thick padded bit of comfy fabric with some velcro on it. So sure, it keeps the light out, and I guess since it has to cover your ears some to get round your head then it does cut down a little on noise, but the net result is like having a thumping great nappy stuck on your head! It's thick, so it's noticeable when lying on it, and it keep sliding off while you're asleep. I laughed out loud when I opened it and found the little pack of ear-plugs - yep, they'd help keep things quiet too, I suppose.
No question, if I'd been looking at this in a store, and able to handle it and try it before purchase, I would not bother. I hadn't invested my whole sense of well-being and happiness in this, so I won't say I'm disappointed, but I won't say it's worth the money. Frankly, I wouldn't pick this if it was free. One of those silly little masks they used to give you on airlines does the job just as well if not better.

I am so glad I bought this sleep mask. I read some reviews and found out for myself that I agree with the 4 and 5 star reviews. Some of the comments I read from the 1 and 2 star reviews I found were not as bad. For example, one person said that the mask rubbed on her eyes during rem sleep. In my opinion, I think, that she had it too tight. It rubbed on my eyes but when I loosened it just a bit, it was fine. Another issue people said they had was that it was uncomfortable when laying on it. I have a down pillow and the softness absorbs the mask so that I don't feel it at all. I like the fact that it is made out of a satin material. It is not hot like some other masks. Some people make comments that it leaves a black residue on the pillow case. I have a dark blue pillow case, so I don't notice any stains.
Bottom line is that I am not only getting more sleep, but I am reaching a deeper sleep so I am more awake in the daytime. THIS MASK IS ACTUALLY IMPROVING MY LIFE.
I highly recommend it to anyone.

We are night workers, sleeping during the day. We've done this for years, and have tried at least 20+ different sleep masks to cut out light and help w/ sleep. This is by far the nicest, most comfortable mask that TOTALLY keeps the light out. It is so soft on your skin and back of head (where most masks definitely fail) and securely adjustable. The width is also a huge reason to buy--the wide contours make it a silky custom fit for your face and it does cover your ears for a little added benefit w/sounds! We both are sleeping deeper because of the above, but also because we're not fighting w/ a mask's elastic band and having it slide all around. Would pay 10x the price or more for the benefit of this sleep. So from daysleepers to our fellow problem sleepers out there, we wholeheartedly recommend this without reservation. We even tried to come up w/some negatives for a "balanced review", but the only negative we came up with was that we didn't find it sooner! BEST BUY!! THANKS SO MUCH Sleep Master!

My work schedule changes a lot, so a good sleep mask is important to me, and this is the BEST I've ever found. It's so comfortable, I always forget for a moment I'm wearing it and just think the power went off and that's why the street lights aren't bothering me. It also muffles sound somewhat by itself, and with the earplugs it comes with, I hear absolutely nothing. And the customer service is GREAT. I wrote them to ask what kind of ear plugs they sent, because they were amazing, and the company was so nice they sent me a couple of extra pairs for free! I couldn't recommend this mask or this company highly enough! Could not be improved upon!
One note - if you have oily skin or use a moisturizer before bed, you'll notice your skin slightly black when you wake up, the dye in the mask seems to cling to anything oily. Washing your face as normal takes care of this, but to prevent it, I washed my mask with olive oil then detergent and that removed all extra dye so I no longer have that issue.

I've been using a Sleep Master mask for about 3 months. Comfort being subjective and relative to most other mask designs I'd agree with anyone that says this thing is very comfortable and very good at blocking light. It even does a sorta decent job of muffling noise.
I'm writing this review as I've returned to buy another to have for laundry rotation. If you try it and decide it works well, you may end up wanting another while one is in the laundry. (Treat as a delicate.)
One important warning. If you cherish your linen, you probably don't want to try it. As many have said the color in these things rubs off. Even after washing. Function versus ruining your pale pillow covers. Why it gets 4 stars instead of 5. Probably not something you'd want guests to see. You'd want to plan ahead for that sort of thing, for sure. Could make the difference between a great evening and someone getting turned off while wondering about your hygienic habits.
