I bought one of these after I was given the task of peeling potatos for a family event. I thought "there must be a way to automate this". So like any good geek, I hit the internet with "potato peeler" and found this item. Originally the tool received a very tepid response.
It would "jump" off the potato while peeling. However, I discovered this is because you must push the arm down after raising it such that it "clicks". Then it doesn't jump and works wonderfully. Every time potatoes are served at dinner I get credit as if I'd peeled them myself.
I only wish it came in a sturdy stainless steel construction to match the rest of the kitchen. I think the "seen on TV" ads really do this item a injustice since it really does work! If ever find yourself peeling more than a few potatoes, do yourself a favor and get this thing.

Love it. Time saving. My friend had never seen this item before and I used it to peel her 10 pound bag of potatoes and she was very impressed.
This is also a good gadget for people with arthritis. You still have to use the hand peeler, but only for the very top and bottom of the potatoes.

Ordered four on December 9, 2007. Never got them until January 5, 2008. All were defective.

replacement for a broken one I already had - would much prefer this product to scraped hands with a hand held peeler
