Customer Review: Wish I didn't LIKE the taste and texture SO MUCH!!

This gum is just awesome when you get a little droopy. It gives you a nice boost, but doesn't last for hours so doesn't interfere with sleep that night. And you don't get the acid you would get from drinking a lot of coffee.
My problem is, I just LOVE biting down into it, getting the sweet juicy mint flavor and gum that is very "chewy". I can never have just one, so wind up popping in another, and probably one more. By them I'm so wired I need to find some good hard work to wear the caffeine off! That's not too hard, and I get a lot done.
I used to drink Red Bull, but almost never any more. So I have to say, this is much less expensive, and doesn't give that really long lasting strong kick Red Bull gives that can leave you a bit worn out the next day. So I figure this gum is healthier, too.

I've been chewing the STAY ALERT energy gum, Arctic Mint flavor for almost a year now. I work in an office and get the afternoon slumps almost every day, just one piece of gum and I perk right up without the jitteriness that I often get with other caffeine products. It doesn't have any affect on me except that I feel wide awake and energized. It didn't take long for me to get used to the bitter taste and now I don't notice it at all. I enjoy the taste and I especially enjoy the energized feeling I have almost immediately after I start chewing.
One word of warning is that I won't chew the gum after 3pm because it will keep me awake at night.
I often wonder how I got through my work days before I started chewing the gum!

To start with, I'm not a heavy coffee drinker. I have a regular cup of coffee or a large cappucino when I need a pickup.
I've tried quite a few "caffeine" products but this is the first one that really worked! I had my first piece around 4pm today for a little kick. It turned out I got a kick in the @$$. I was WIRED for about 4 hours. I had another piece around 8pm and now, 3-1/2 hours later, I decided to write this review because it really does work (and I doubt I'm going to sleep anytime soon)! I think anyone, regardless of their tolerance, will get a caffeine buzz off a single piece of gum. If not one, two will definitely do the trick.

It's caffeine in a handy form. Expect the usual effects and side effects of caffeine; it does help you feel awake, but I wouldn't expect it to provide hours of crash-free wakefulness. It is clearly more convenient than common caffeinated drinks, with benefits such as fewer pit stops and the absence of coffee breath.
The taste is a non-issue to me and I'm surprised people are commenting on it, but I did expect it to taste mildly bitter. It's apparent that the makers also consider the flavor a big issue, as the gum contains sugar, aspartame, sucralose AND corn syrup. -1 star from 4 stars for that reason.
Customer Review: Awful tasting, but does wake you up

Bought these awhile ago, and I'm happy I did. First time I chewed a piece, I was amazed on how awful it tasted. My best attempt at describing the taste is like rancid pepto bismol. Yes it kinda tastes like that, but it does work. I work retail so the first actual test for me was on Black Friday of last year. I was scheduled to start at 2:30AM, so I needed to be up and ready. But....thanksgiving had different plans, so in the end I ended up with about half an hour of sleep. Well with a few pieces I was able to work through a 12 hour shift with no issues. They may not taste great but they do work.
