Customer Reviews of Seventh Generation Automatic Dishwasher Gel, Lemon Scent, 42-Ounce Bottles (Pack of 6)

Customer Review: Works great in our dishwasher
Summary: 5 Stars

We switched to this from the e-cover tablets (We rated 4 of 5 stars) and find this to be superior. We have a GE dishwasher that has the "SmartDispense" feature and I think it cleans better when it can add as much detergant as needed. The tablets were good but with very heavily soiled loads, they did not do the job. I'm glad 7th Gen came along with this product, I like it's enviro friendly features.

Note, we use pre-heat and pre-rinse with our machine as well. I think the combo of pre-heat, pre-rinse and SmartDispense in our machine makes the most effective use of this detergant. Your mileage may vary depending on your machine. We normally get 18 full loads with one full bottle. Oh - and it shines our glassware better.

Customer Review: Perfect for silver/silver plated utensils
Summary: 5 Stars

We started using this product several years ago when we bought Christofle silver plate for our everyday silverware and HAD to use a NON-CHLORINE product or the silver would turn black. We have used it and bought it by the case ever since and have never had the problem of it coating our dishes, etc. I believe that issues is more of a water problem (well water vs. public, hardness vs. softness, etc) than product related. We have two dishwashers, they are older Fridgidaires and still no problem using this product to clean our dishes. I prefer the lemon scent to the green apple, which is just too industrial sweet smelling to me. But overall, we love this product and would not switch back even if we had non-silver plate utensils!

Customer Review: Works as well as the others.
Summary: 5 Stars

This product works as well as other gel or pod-type dishwashing detergents I have used. I am a bachelor, occasionally a slob, and I leave dirty dishes in my sink for a couple of days before putting them into the dishwasher. The food is often dried on, but I haven't had any problems getting the dishes clean with this product. I did have a minor issue with the packaging...my carton arrived smelling like lemons, and some of the gel had escaped from the plastic bottles, possibly due to rough handling, heat, bad cap design or a combination thereof. Thankfully, all of the bottles were enclosed in a plastic bag within the carton, so the mess wasn't too bad, but I did have to spend 5 minutes rinsing off the spilled gel.

Customer Review: Awful Dishwasher Gel
Summary: 1 Stars

We have been trying to switch over to more eco-friendly cleaning products for our house since we have a new baby (never too early to make an impression on small minds). We found this and the liquid soap from Seventh Generation and decided to give it a try. We did like the way the liquid soap cleans, but the smell sort of turned us off. When we used the dishwasher gel, however, our dishes came out with dingy brownish spots all over them. It was absolutely disgusting, and we had to rewash our dishes by hand to use them.

We have since switched over to the Method smarty dish tablets-much better. In fact, we switched over the liquid soap to Method as well. I think we'll just stay with that brand.

Customer Review: This green product made me blue
Summary: 1 Stars

I've been on a mad, green frenzy, detoxifying my home and replacing toxic products for products which are safer for my family and the environment. My gorcery store doesn't have a huge selection of these products, but this was one of them. So I bought it and was hugely disappointed. The dishes did not come out clean and were covered in a filmy residue. I returned the product to my store for a refund. A few weeks later, I went to Whole Foods (we don't live near one) and bought the Ecover tablets. So far they work great-very comparable to Electrosol in both performance and price. I requested Ecover at my grocery store, but it looks like I'll be buying them from Amazon.
