I have used this for several years now & am happy with how it cleans. I have well water with no water softener & a low amount of minerals. I use around 1 tablespoon (no less) in each detergent cup in the dishwasher. I split the case with a friend who has city water with a higher amount of minerals & she has to use more to effectively clean the dishes, but she is happy with it as well. I keep my detergent in a plasic container rather than the original box (so there is no worry of the box getting wet & clumping the powder). When I first started using this I expected a cloud of lung burning dust like my old detergent when I refilled my container. I was surprised & pleased that there was hardly any cloud & no smell. Also, when the dishwasher exhausts steam, there is no smell then either. The subscription price for this is great as well.Customer Review: green and clean

I was rather hesitant on purchasing this item since you have to buy in bulk on Amazon. But I checked on consumer reports and this was one of the top eco-friendly dishwashing detergents listed, so I bought it. I have been using this for 3 wks now and am pleased. There does not appear to be any issue with build up on glasses, etc. In addition, I have not noticed any etching on silverware. And I have hard water. If you are thinking about giving this a try I would very much recommend it. Most all of my cleaners are home made and "green". I have tried different things for dishwasher detergent, including making my own over the last 1 1/2 yrs and had not found anything I was satisfied with until now.Customer Review: Hello soap scum!

I didn't buy this from Amazon but I still had to leave feedback here because this product was sooo bad, We use a lot of Seventh Generation (and Mrs. Meyers and Shaklee's, etc.). We ran out of our Shaklee dishwasher powder detergent so I bought some Seventh Generation to replace it. It left massive amounts of soap scum. To the point where my dishes were cleaner when I put them in dirty! And then I would try to run those dishes in there over again and they were still bad. And then I hand-washed them and the soap scum still wouldn't come off! Suffice it to say, I am all for ecological, but I would never buy this product again. I'm too lazy to wash dishes by hand but I don't like dousing the dishes I use for food with conventional dishwashing detergents laden with chemicals and all the natural dishwashing detergents I bought didn't clean my dishes satisfactorily. Seventh Generation is wonderful because it's natural and cleans my dishes very well, even if I haven't rinsed off my dishes beforehand as well as I should've. Once in awhile I still find food stuck to dishes, mostly silverware, but I figure that's either my error for a.) not rinsing it off better and b.) I crowded it too much in the washer. Previously when I purchased this, I received it, one of the boxes tore open during shipment. I complained to Amazon but they wanted me to ship it back, which is a hassle. I figured the amount I was saving I can lose half a box. This time I opened the box and not only was one box missing, 4 of the seven were half empty and were taped up. and the other three didn't seem completely full either. How could Amazon be so careless to ship this out. It seems that someone also received a bad box and returned it then Amazon did not check it and sent it out. Amazon can not send out bulky items like this and not ensure no damage. It was too much work for me.
