Customer Reviews of Seventh Generation Automatic Dishwasher Powder, Free & Clear, 75-Ounces Boxes, Case Pack, (Pack of 8)Customer Review: NO fragrances & CLEAN dishes..just what i was looking for! Summary: 5 Stars
i tried cascade & was very alarmed when my son's bottles & cups came out smelling like their product...yuck! i never had a dishwasher before, but i figured that fragrance residue just couldn't be right/healthy. so i began my search for a free & clear detergant & i found Seventh Generation. i couldn't be happier with this product. my dishes are very clean & they don't smell like anything!
ps> their fragrance free multi purpose cleaner is great on mirrors & glass too. i mean, who likes the smell of windex..yick!
plus you can do a quick clean-up before guests arrive & no one is the wiser..no tell tale smell, just bright & clean!
Customer Review: Works much better with the help of a couple of other products Summary: 3 Stars
By itself, this product doesn't work very well. I used to use it with Jet Dry but it would leave white powder all over my dishes. That improved dramatically when I switched to Wave Jet Rinse Agent--which surprised me since Wave is another environmentally sound product. I was still having a problem with stains in my dishwasher and ceramic mugs but when I started adding a scoop of Oxo-Brite at the beginning of the wash cycle, my cups now come out clean and my dishwasher is no longer stained. So this product really needs the help of these other two environmentally sound products to match the performance of the harsher products I used to use.
Customer Review: Much better than expected! Summary: 5 Stars
Like a lot of people, I thought it was time to go green with my various cleaning soaps. I was surprised that 7th Gen powder did so well in my 20 year old dishwasher (granted, we do not have hard water in my area). Better than the top selling mainstream brands. When I ran out of the 7th Gen., I tried the Whole Foods 365 store brand and have been terribly disappointed. I've been pre-washing much more than I ever have before.
I understand that people are worried that 7th Gen. will make some compromises now that the brand is being sold at WalMart. I certainly hope not. This is a wonderful product!
Customer Review: Not recommended for hard water Summary: 3 Stars
Unfortunately, I do not recommend this product for hard water. As soon as I started using it, it left a build up on all of my dishes. The dishwasher repair man (I thought my dishwasher was broken) explained that phosphates are required for hard water. I can continue to use the S. G. product, but I have to add 1 Tbs. phosphates to it. I also tried running a cycle with vinegar. That helped, but not quite as much as did adding the phosphates to the detergent. Just thought I'd post this info, as many people in my area have hard water and have experienced this same issue with the product.
Customer Review: $34.99 lasted six months but maybe Arm&Hammer would be just as effective Summary: 3 Stars
I switched to this because it's safe and unfancy but it didn't do as an effective cleaning my greasy pan. A consumer comparison show reported that the biodegradeable claim for this product is a marketing tool only.
I am half way through the order so buying in bulk wasn't so bad for me. I hate having to go back to the store to replenish on nonperishables. Women spend 8 YEARS of their lives on grocery shopping unless they live in an eat out culture such as Thailand in which case they shop for something else.
After I used up this product, I did not reorder.
