Customer Reviews of Seventh Generation Bathroom Tissue, 2-Ply Sheets, 500-Sheet Rolls (Pack of 48)

Customer Review: Perfect Replacement for this previously loyal Northern Tissue user
Summary: 5 Stars

I always used Northern and, in fact, had even ordered it here on subscribe and save. Frankly, I'm tired of the gimmicks used by Georgia Pacific and other tissue manufacturers where they want us to believe we are getting more by calling their rolls big, double, jumbo, etc but at the same time, reducing the size across the width. I thought I'd give Seventh Generation a try since I have been trying to be more green with my purchases. It is a little rougher than Northern but I personally prefer a rougher paper than softer. If you are a Charmin devotee, this paper will not satisfy you. For me, this paper performs beautifully.

I still had some of my formerly favorite brand remaining so I made a comparison. Width-wise, the Seventh Generation is wider than the Northern--about three quarters of an inch. When you stack the two rolls, the Northern is larger even though it has about 375 sheets per roll compared to the 500 sheets per roll on the Seventh Generation. This just goes to show how far some of these tissue manufacturers are willing to go to make us believe we are getting more product--evidently they invest the time and energy in puffing up their little 375 sheet rolls to make it appear larger than a 500 sheet 2-ply roll. I'm done with Northern having found the perfect replacement in Seventh Generation. You have the added bonus with Seventh Generation of making a green purchase. That's beautiful.

Price wise, this paper will actually be cheaper in the long run. Some of the older reviews here mention the price as being costlier; however, at this point in time, the price is comparable to the leading brands on a per roll basis, but you also get more product here AND it's not puffed up!

I ordered through subscribe and save and with a current coupon, I ended up only paying $37 for 48 rolls of 500 sheet 2 ply paper. I like it and have no complaints on performance. I have found my new favorite paper.

Customer Review: keepin' it green--despite the texture and the price
Summary: 4 Stars

Seventh Generation makes a fine brand of bath tissue--even if it's not exactly Charmin soft. I prefer the texture of Scott bath tissue so for me this product was really not bad at all. I enjoy knowing that I am helping to keep our planet "green" when choosing this bath tissue.

This bath tissue is made of completely recycled paper--80% of which is post consumer material! Great! All this DOES reduce pollution, just as they advertise on the wrapping of the roll of toilet paper. The wrapping is great and the bath tissue is whitened without using bleach. I am very impressed. Predictably, this bath tissue is not just kinder to Mother Nature; it's easier on those of us who are sensitive to scents. It is hypoallergenic; and it is perfectly safe for toilet and septic systems just as Amazon notes above. Of course, there's always a limit to how much paper will go in one single flush down the toilet; but most people have an intuitive sense about this so it shouldn't be a problem.

Of course, bath tissue never "goes stale," so if you catch a sale on this product stock up on it! The rolls can be stored in the package they come in; or you can store the rolls individually in various places throughout your home where they will be needed.

Actually, there are some concerns. Seventh Generation bath tissue is comparatively expensive to most other brands of bath tissue. People on a budget may simply not be able to afford this product. Moreover, some people will protest the feel of this paper since, as I wrote above, it's not exactly Charmin soft. I'll take off one star for these two issues even though I personally like this very much. I know that in time Seventh Generation will figure out a way to make this product softer--and cheaper.

Overall, if you don't mind the texture and the price, this is excellent bath tissue. I myself recommend it highly.

Customer Review: 7th Generation Toilet Paper
Summary: 5 Stars

In reading some of the other reviews, I was happy to find another soul allergic to conventional toilet paper. And no, it isn't pretty or fun. At some point in my life, I became chemically sensitive to everything. It became necessary to find an alternative. We have been using this brand for so long, I don't even remember how we came upon it. Maybe at Whole Foods? It was also interesting to find that some people use more of this than the more fluffier brands. I think we tend to use less. It's less bulky than other brands and I think it is actually more efficient for its intended purpose. But what I appreciate the most is that it doesn't smell of anything. No artificial floral scents that are annoying and cloying to the senses. It flushes well and doesn't plug up your toilet (and all are low-flow these days). We are on a septic and I'm happy that we are not adding to the contamination of the ground water. I also appreciate that it's individually wrapped. It seems like it stores tighter and requires less space than 4 or 8 rolls in the poly packs. I love that it can be ordered on the subscription program, ships for free, AND it shows up right when you need it! I do not want to be one of the pilgrims leaving Costco with a cart full of toilet paper. For those of you that complain it's not soft enough, keep this is mind: my mother (now deceased) used an outhouse and the Sears catalog. Kind of keeps in all into perspective!!! You can recycle the wrapping and the core, what more can we ask of it! It's just one small easy thing we can do or our planet.

Customer Review: A top quality toilet paper
Summary: 5 Stars

I decided to try this brand on auto-ship a few months ago. I'm as pleased as a person can be with a toilet paper.

Health & Safety: It's unscented, no dyes, and no chlorine bleach. Can't get much more hypo-allergenic than this!

Recycling: Made with 100% recycled paper (80% min post-consumer and 20% pre-consumer)

Comfort/ease of use: I've read that other people find the paper "rough," but I think it's just perfect. It's strong enough not to fall apart during use and soft enough to be comfortable. It's two-ply and comes on a large enough roll to last. My previous favorite brand was the regular Cottonelle--I find the texture, strength and absorbency of this brand to be similar.

Packaging: The packaging is simply a paper wrapper around each roll and all the rolls are shipped stacked in a large cardboard box. Unpacking is a snap, which is especially important to me because I have mild arthritis and have trouble ripping open plastic packages. I'm also an avid gardener and composter, so it pleases me that all the wrappers, empty tubes, and the outer box can go right outside into my compost pile rather than filling up my trash.

Convenience: I love that it comes via auto-ship! One of the worst things for the house to run out of is toilet paper. I also love that I no longer have to wrestle bulky packages of toilet paper from the store to the car and the car to the house. Now toilet paper just appears on my doorstep!

Customer Review: Pleasantly surprised
Summary: 4 Stars

I've taken our family organic over the past year, but primarily in food. It's a slippery slope! I started switching to organic/natural cleaners a few months ago but didn't change any paper products, they just seemed so expensive and I wasn't really sure there would be a health benefit. When reviewing my subscriptions for toilet paper I decided to go back and look at my options. I started digging in and noticed that although this seems more expensive, there is a lot more paper (like double!)on a roll. But I still wasn't sure....earth friendly TP, wouldn't it be rough??? Finally I just decided to heck with it, I'll just try it and see. I have to admit I was pleasantly surprised. It' not rough as I had expected, although it's no cottonelle either. It is soft enough for me and my nerdy allergic oversensitive skin to use with no problems. It has been a nice change to have a roll of TP last for more than a day with the 5 of us in the house!! Now I'm not running around barking at the kids "Who left this empty roll in the bathroom???? You know better!!!".....well, at least not nearly as often! One side note, I've ordered 4 cases and one case was short 2 rolls. It hadn't been opened so I'm not sure what the deal was. I just let it go, I don't have the energy to worry about it. All said, I'm glad I took the chance and more importantly, I am a convert. Our family will continue to order this TP. (did I mention that no one has noticed I made a change, much less complained???)
