Customer Reviews of Seventh Generation Bathroom Tissue, 2-Ply Sheets, 500-Sheet Rolls (Pack of 48)Customer Review: Surprisingly soft eco-friendly bathroom tissue! Summary: 5 Stars
I'm typically one to go with the cheap brands when it comes to toilet paper. Marcal or Scott's, whichever is cheaper. I'm not one to be picky about toilet paper. I'll admit the softer brands are really nice, but they are more expensive and the roll runs out really quick. Now I ordered Seventh Generation bathroom tissue not because of softness or price, but because I was interested in trying out an eco-friendly alternative and with Amazon Subscribe & Save I will never run out of the necessities (I really loathe going to the store for a roll of toilet paper). So honestly I was expecting something along the lines of public school toilet paper. However, to my surprise the bathroom tissue was actually soft. Now I'm not saying it's nearly as soft as Charmin Ultra, but it's definitely softer than Marcal or Scott's. So in terms of softness it's actually in the middle which isn't bad considering it's 100% recycled paper (80% post-consumer content minimum). The post-consumer content is what sets this bathroom tissue apart from the rest. Post-consumer is paper that is recycled from homes and offices, basically the stuff we throw out on recycling night for the garbage workers to pick up. Most other brands use pre-consumer content, which is actually left over scraps from paper production and other industrial manufacturing. So all in all I think this bathroom tissue is adequately soft and very environmentally friendly. I would recommend this to everyone.
Customer Review: A Great Recycled Product! Summary: 5 Stars
Toilet paper you can feel good about! If you are a reading this then you probably at least have some kind of concern for the environment. What better way to do your part than with a product you use every day. Not only is the toilet paper from recycled material (minimum of 80% post consumer!) but it is not packaged in plastic like every other toilet paper you find at the store. Each roll is wrapped in paper and the only other packaging is the big cardboard box they are shipped in.
After reading some of the reviews I was wondering about the quality and softness of this paper, but I decided to give it a try. I am glad I did as I love this paper. I dislike the fluffy brands that get lint every where. This paper is not like that, so if that is the kind of paper you are use to and like be warned. It is still a step or two above public restroom paper. It is better than what we have at work, so it from my perspective its quality is great. In reality the softness and quality is going to depend on your opinion and point of view. I find it to be soft enough for me. It does not feel uncomfortable at all. Your opinion may vary though. I plan on continuing to use this toilet paper so I hope Amazon continues to stock it, as it is rather expensive to buy from the stores in my area.
Customer Review: Good product, good way to purchase Summary: 4 Stars
In my search for high quality products from responsible companies at reasonable prices, this is a long standing favorite.
The 500 sheet, 2-ply rolls last a long time and get the job done. I have tried many other recycled toilet paper products only to find they fall apart or are so short or "fluffed up" they only make it a day in our household. These rolls fit on our regular holder and make it several days per roll. Seventh Generation's product is not quilted, but I have no complaints about texture.
Purchasing the product as the pack of 48 saves me time and money. Buying by the case brings the per roll cost down to a comparable level to other high quality brands. I've even gone so far as to calculate per sheet costs and this is the best value I've found. We have two bathrooms and I split the case between the two. Then I can forget about it for months.
Also important to me is the fact that Seventh Generation is one of the most responsible companies on the planet, not just for the environment, but for most aspects of corporate responsibility. They are constantly working to improve their products and seek out customer feedback.
I would recommend this product to just about anybody.
Customer Review: Win-Win Situation! Summary: 5 Stars
I have been trying to reduce my carbon footprint for the past two years now, so I've made a few sacrifices. One of them being cashmere-soft, overpriced, and wasteful toilet paper which I felt like I had to run out and buy constantly. I ordered the Seventh Generation 2-Ply Bathroom Tissue about a month ago and I'll admit, I was a little worried after reading the mixed reviews on the product page. It came in a lovely, recyclable cardboard box and the individual rolls were wrapped in (again) recyclable paper. (The recyclable part really pumps me up, I'm a recycling fiend!) After trying it out, I was thrilled. No, it's not like wiping your tush with your favorite plush blanket, but it was perfect for me. The 500 sheet roll takes forever to run out, and the 2 ply is actually very strong, as strong as any other and very much unlike "gas station" economy t.p. I ordered the case of 48 and since I subscribed, I received the discounted price AND free shipping. How's that for Win-Win?! This is a great product and an even greater statement and I hope it encourages others to give it a try.
Customer Review: Seventh Generation also offers a softer alternative Summary: 2 Stars
Seventh Generation offers two types of bath tissue: 500 sheet and 400 sheet. The one listed above, at 500 sheets, is the thinner, tougher, more abrasive type. The one to get instead is the following, also available on Amazon (sometimes):
Seventh Generation Bathroom Tissue, 2-ply White Unscented, Case Pack (48-400 Sheet Rolls)
The 400 sheet variety is not only great for the environment (80% post consumer recycled/ whitened without chlorine bleach) but also soft and comfortable. Amazon currently lists it as 'unavailable'. To encourage Amazon to carry the more comfortable one, add that one to your wish list. Or once it is available, purchase the 400 sheet one instead.
The 500 sheet variety will remind you of being in a gas station restroom. If you end up buying this in bulk, you'll find yourself secretly buying traditional toilet paper to pull out of the cabinet when you have guests...
