Customer Reviews of Seventh Generation Chlorine Free Baby Diapers, Stage 4 (22-37 Lbs.), 30 Count (Pack of 4)Customer Review: I really wanted to hate these... Summary: 5 Stars
I have to be honest, after taking a look at these diapers at the grocery store, I didn't like them. First of all, they are brown and look like a cheap paper towel with stickers. On top of that, they are pretty expensive (outside of amazon at least) and look questionably crappy. My daughter was using the Huggies pure and natural diapers for a while with no issues. After about 3 months of using huggies, she developed a nasty rash that was not going away so I hesitantly decided to try these diapers. I picked up a small pack from BRU and within TWO diaper changes, her rash disappeared. I know, it sounds like some magic bs, but it's true... I swear. After her rash cleared up, I went back to huggies and within one diaper use, her butt started getting red again. So I switched back to Seventh Generation and within yet one diaper change, her butt rash cleared up. It was very clear that the culprit here were the huggies. Since then, we've been using these with no issues whatsoever. These diapers are hands down the best diapers I have found. They are sooo ugly, but work amazing. I haven't had any blow outs or leaks. The also absorb incredibly. I leave her in these a bit longer (only with pee diapers) than the huggies because 1) they absorb everything and 2) she gets NO rashes - ever. I have tubs of butt paste and prescribed ointments that we don't use anymore. No need for diaper cream with these diapers. I highly highly recommend these. The sticky tabs, diaper shape/cut, price, everything is fine. After joining Amazon moms, these diapers are the same price as huggies, if not slightly cheaper. You can also find coupons in some issues of Parent and Parenting magazines - you get an extra 20% off, which makes these very affordable and cheaper than most diapers. Bottom line, if you have a baby with a sensitive butt or need a truly durable diaper, just use these.
Customer Review: LOVE 'EM! Summary: 5 Stars
We regularly use cloth for economic and environmental reasons. We use disposable dipes for more extensive travel (which we do often)and when goes to church or a sitters house and overnight occasionally.
I love the Seventh Generation diapers! Amazon allows me to purchase them at a much better price than our local health food store sells them for.
The diapers come out of the package and initially look smaller than your average size four, but they stretch much more than your traditional dipe. The leg gussets are very stretchy and the sides are thin which I think makes for a much trimmer fit with minimal leakage. My son has leaked out of them a little bit once or twice (overnight), but we haven't yet met a disposable that he hasn't leaked through a few times.
My son has extremely sensitive skin and these diapers have never irritated his behind!
I prefer the tan color they are to other cartoony designs on mainstream brans. I don't know why - I just like it.
I have seen in other reviews that people think these diapers feel like cardboard. I disagree totally. I think they are softer and less stiff than many other brands and they do not rub my son raw around the legs.
As for the environmental impact factor, these diapers aren't THAT much more eco-friendly that other disposables since they still use absorbent gel and do dye the diapers the tan color AND most importantly, they still end up in a landfill. However, I would MUCH rather buy the diapers from this company that makes a strong effort to make products that are more environmentally friendly. Recycled packaging, energy efficiency in their manufacturing process, and recycled, biodegradable products are all reasons I like buying from Seventh Generation.
There - my two cents :)
Customer Review: Great diapers, love the Subscription savers program Summary: 5 Stars
I lament using disposable diapers but as a full-time working mom, buying 7th generation is the next best thing. I like the fit and comfort of these diapers and they have improved several things about the diapers in the past couple years that my kids have been wearing them. There is now a little gather at the small of the back (waist) which helps to avoid the "plumber's crack" problem that the diapers had before. I also love that there is no odor whatsoever. I hate that perfume smell on other diapers and these do not smell at all. In fact, even if the diaper is dirty or wet, sometimes it is difficult to smell it but any good parent should be checking often. Usually they absorb enough to last through the night and only occasionally do we need to change in the early morning hours because it feels pretty full - but that's only if my baby has been nursing a lot during the night. This diaper is pretty good at preventing leaks except for those super-gooey occasions when baby is still young. When it comes to those kind of situations, I'm pretty sure there isn't a diaper on the planet that would contain that kind of leaking.
I have been ordering these diapers and the wipes from Amazon's new subscription service and this has been great! The diapers just arrive on my doorstep every month and I know I am getting the best price (plus free shipping) available. Prior to signing up with the subscription service, I had to make a special trip to the only store in town that sells these diapers and occasionally the store would be out of the size I needed. Even when they were on sale, the price was still higher than I'm getting on Amazon. If ever I need the shipment to come earlier or later, it's easy to go online and say "send shipment now" or "skip this shipment".
Customer Review: Great Product, runs a little small Summary: 5 Stars
When my hefty 9 pound boy was born in August 2010 we started out with the Pampers we had been given at the hospital, but they leaked consistently so the hunt was on. We then tried the Seventh Generation diapers, but they leaked. Then we tried Earth's Best... but they leaked. Finally, I tried Huggies, but they too leaked.
I talked to everyone, my girlfriends, my co-workers, my pediatrician, but no one had a good suggestion until finally one day someone said "try the next size up." I protested!
"But, the packaging says they are good to 12 pounds," (depending on which brand you referenced, by that time diapers were covering every surface of my home).
"Just try it," my friend insisted. So I did, and the clouds parted and the sun came out and all of my pee soaked clothing dried out. It was a glorious day.
My son is now 4 months old and at 22 pounds (I asked my pediatrician about that too and she said she doesn't argue with god) he has been wearing size 4 diapers for about 2 weeks since he was 20 pounds. So the sizing runs a little small, but I have few leaks (usually when its time to change sizes again), he's NEVER had a diaper rash and it is ever so slightly better for the environment.
I still use subscribe and save, I just have to log on when I get my notice that another order is about to ship and verify or modify the size being sent based on how big the baby has gotten. With subscribe and save I pay about the same for a diaper that I like as I would buying one of the big 3 brands in store.
In conclusion: Runs small, no diaper rash, no chlorine, ships directly to my home with little or no effort on part - Yay, 7th Gen diapers.
Customer Review: Great diapers, but a little pricey Summary: 4 Stars
Pros
1) Holds up as well as other brands. The diaper is good quality. We had very few leak issues with them. We have used Pampers as well. Seventh Generation works just as well if not better than Pampers. Absorption is fantastic on these diapers.
2) Doesn't use chlorine and perfumes. At least that's the claim. The diapers does not use chlorine to get the white color. But, they do use dye to get the distinctive brown color for the diaper. The lack of perfumes on the diaper does help to determine if the little tyke did his business a little easier. Perfume for a diaper is really unnecessary and a potential irritant to the baby.
3) Good tabs makes it easy to line up and put on the little moving tyke. The tabs hold very well and easy to line up. The cartoons on Pampers diapers can be distracting and offers no value add when trying to diaper a baby.
Cons
1) It's costlier than other brands. It always annoys me that we have to pay more for fewer ingredients to make a product. The cost is for the marketing and in some ways a status symbol for parents to show they care and bought a "green" product.
2) Product tends to run small in size. Pampers are a little more forgiving with size. This is a big deal when baby is growing so fast. It is extraordinarily annoying when baby gets too big for a diaper size and you're only half way through a bag. If your baby is growing fast, don't order too many of these at once.
Bottom line: Great product. A little costlier than other brands. Provides a little cachet for buying a "green" product. Seventh Generation is a good small US company that manufactures here in the US.
