Customer Reviews of Seventh Generation Chlorine Free Diapers, Stage 4 (22-37 Lbs), 34-Count Packages (Pack of 4) (136 Diapers)Customer Review: Eco Friendly/Baby Friendly Summary: 5 Stars
We have been pleased with these diapers. From an environmental standpoint they are good. Chlorination produces dioxins which are known carcinogens and also contribute to birth defects. These diapers are not chlorinated, so manufacturing doesn't produce dioxins. On the downside, they are a disposable diaper and are not biodegradable. Knowing Seventh Generation, however, just give it time. From Mom's view: these are actually better than Pampers or Huggies. The side tabs are wide and more generous. The liquid is more evenly distributed so the diaper really retains its shape. It has NEVER LEAKED. As for the cost-we purchase these in bulk at a discounted rate with free shipping (thank you Amazon!) So, we don't actually see a cost increase! I am also not driving 12 miles to the health store to purchase them. I recommend them most highly and only wish I had found this bulk price when my daughter was a newborn.
Customer Review: Leaks every time Summary: 1 Stars
I really wanted these diapers to work. I've been using the Kirkland diapers and these are not much more expensive and so much better for baby and the environment; but if I have to change baby's cloths every time I change diapers, then it's not better for either. I was really careful to be sure I had them on as good as possible, but no matter what I did, they leaked. I have problems with the Kirkland diapers at night some times, getting him wet, but never during the day and NEVER poop, like I had with these. Maybe they'd be better for girls, or very slender babies, I don't know, but for my boy, they just do not work at all. If you want to try them, I suggest signing up for the auto ship so you can get the best price, but schedule your next shipment for several months down the line, you can always change the ship times if you like the diapers and it gives you time to cancel if they don't work out for you.
Customer Review: Great, but not as good as the old design Summary: 4 Stars
These are incredibly absorbent, a pretty good value, and much more eco-friendly than the mainstream brands. The velcro on the new design sometimes chafes my crawling baby's belly, but if you position it carefully and check it if your baby seems uncomfortable, you should be OK. Your grocery store brand diaper is going to live in a landfill for upwards of 500 years, meaning Henry VIII's Pampers would still be around if he'd worn them! So I figure that while 7th Generation diapers aren't perfect, almost anything is better than knowing your baby is stinking up a landfill for centuries after he's left this earth. Personally, I love using cloth diapers (they've lasted through 3 children-what a bargain!), but my husband doesn't feel the love so much. So for times when Dad's in charge, I keep a stock of 7th Generations on hand. Who am I to press the issue if he's willing to change diapers?:)
Customer Review: Great for Sensitive Skin Summary: 5 Stars
Our daughter has extremely sensitive skin. We battled diaper rash with her for months, trying every brand. Pampers was the best, but after continued use, her rash crept back. The doctor's advice (keep her entire diaper area covered with petroleum jelly) was time consuming and not very effective. We also changed all our soap and detergent, which helped, but not much. Aside from the rashes, she was constantly scratching, it was not uncommon to open a bloody diaper from her scratching, so we had to be very careful about the clothes she wore to minimize her getting into her diaper. We finally tried these and the immediate change was amazing! Within days she had a normal looking bum and no scratching! They aren't very cute (we call them her brown beauties) but well worth using, especially if you have problems with sensitive skin.
Customer Review: New and Improved??? Summary: 3 Stars
The "new and improved" diaper in my opinion is not better. I prefer the old version to the new ones. The only improvement I have found is that the new diaper is not as bulky as the older version. The new diaper tab does not stick very well and it keeps coming off or sticks to my son's clothes. I have to use packing tape over the tab to make sure it stays on. I notice that the new diapers leak more and they also, leave behind a gel substance on my son's skin which the older version didn't. I would not continue to buy these diapers if it wasn't for the fact that these diapers are chlorine free and free of many other chemicals that the commercial name brand diapers have. I will continue to purchase these diapers however; I am disappointed in the "new and improved" version and I hope they are working on making them better.
