I am a clean freak. I like my house to look clean, smell clean and be clean. It also has to be sanitary. I am also earth and health-conscious. After having my first child I became concerned about some of the deadly chemicals I was still using to clean my home and how they would effect her. That said, I have tried many commercial and home-made "cleaners" of various brands, prices and odors that simply do not do the job. As much as I love my famly and my enviorment, I cannot live with grease stains and crud left behind by other cleaners. I have longed for a product that actually gave me the results of my heavy-duty but toxic cleaners without the application of excess elbow grease. This one delivers.
I tried the spray as a glass cleaner, a grease remover, a counter top spray, a stove cleaner, a trash can cleaner, shower cleaner, floor cleaner, glass cleaner, sink cleaner, and many other things where I would typically use Windex or 409. This spray did the job equally well as both of those cleaners and left my house smelling fresh rather than doused in heavy chemicals. I would highly recommend this product to anyone who shares my standard for cleanliness and concerns for wellness. I just wish they made disposable swiffer pads, too. (Hint, hint)

I've now used this for cleaning kitchen countertops, bathroom mirrors, sinks, the stovetop, and windows (with smeary kid handprints). It has done an admirable job. I like how the spray nozzle puts out a mist of just the right fine-ness (or a stream, but I prefer the mist setting). Works as well as Windexy-type cleaners and smells better.
Which is saying something, because the one thing I don't totally like is its smell. You might recognize it as the smell of geraniol, that plant oil that's also in some natural bug repellent sprays. It just happens to be a smell I'm not thrilled with. I don't think it's universally aversive.
I don't much smell Grapefruit in here. Herbs, maybe (but why herbs in my glass cleaner?). Mostly the geraniol.
I dislike geraniol enough that I won't use the bug spray that contains it, but I'll keep using this cleaner because it's a mild smell mitigated by other ingredients and it dissipates quickly. It doesn't take much to interpret it as a fresh cleaner-y smell.
And it really does clean well. Leaves a nice no-residue ungreasy surface, does better at de-greasing my stovetop than the orange-based natural spray cleaner I had been using. Really nice on glass.

I've been ecologically minded long enough that I gravitate towards "natural" products when possible. Yet in the arena of cleaning products, I'm often afraid such products will not as well as their more toxic conventional counterparts.
So I was pleased to find this Seventh Generation cleaner works just as well on glass as Windex!
It works a little less-well on greasy dirt (such as in the kitchen), and heavily caked bathroom scum that would take 2 passes with Windex may take 3 passes with this cleaner. But for typical cleaning purposes, it works just as well, though I found I had to apply it a little more heavily than Windex.
Its mildly fruity odor fades quickly and doesn't have the artificial pungency of something like the lemon in Pledge. Best of all are no VOCs or anything else nasty in the ingredients. You still wouldn't want to get this stuff in your eyes, but it's pretty harmless otherwise.
It works well, smells good, is better for your health, and is sold by a very ecologically-minded company. So I rate this 5 stars. It's another simple, incremental way to have a smaller eco-footprint without sacrificing quality of life.

Love to give a reveiw but here it is 12/21/07 and my order was last seen on its way to Ohio on 11/20 and was never delivered. Customer service tells me it shipped and its on the way. Apparently DHL must walk packages to their destinations!

After speaking to DHL again it appears that my package was leaking and was not delivered. I see that others did not receive their product through the Vine program as well so one can assume they were sent leakers as well. If this company can get their bottles to not leak during shipment and reading the reviews of those that did get the product one would assume that the product works as advertised and is a "green product".

I'm exceptionally happy I got to try this new Seventh Gen. product out! I've always liked their stuff, from toilet paper to laundry detergent. I have to say, the Ruby Grapefruit cleaner didn't disappoint me in the least!
First, the scent: grapefruit, and a mix of herbs, and none of that awful chemical stench that you get with conventional cleaners! It left the surfaces smelling nice, subtle without being overpowering. I have asthma as well, and it didn't bother my lungs a bit as some cleaners' fumes do.
As for cleaning, it's excellent! Gets the dirt and crud right up off the table, the counters, even the mirrors. No streaking, and quite effective on everything that I used conventional cleaners for.
I got several bottles, so I gave them away to my friends, who are thrilled with it as well! Hopefully I can get them as hooked as I am. Thanks 7G, for another great alternative to toxic chemicals!
