Customer Reviews of Seventh Generation Paper Towels, Natural, 2-Ply Sheets (Pack of 30)

Customer Review: Lacking in quality
Summary: 2 Stars

I wish I could recommend this product, given that it is environmentally friendly, but I cannot. I recently tried them out and they perform poorly. The sheets seem to be slightly smaller than standard paper towels, and they fall apart quickly when wet. In fact, even when they're dry, pieces rip off way too easily when just trying to grab a sheet off the roll. They don't soak up much of any liquid before they're completely useless. So, to do the job of one major brand name paper towel, I need to use two or three of these!

My recommendation: buy a better quality paper towel, and use them sparingly. (If there's a better recycled brand out there, I'd love to know!) Also, keep a stash of reusable cloth rags handy and use them whenever practical. I feel better about that than I do about buying this and practically tripling my paper towel use because they aren't up to the task!

Customer Review: LOVE these paper towels!
Summary: 5 Stars

I am SO happy with these paper towels...especially the fact that I can compost them! I use them to wrap produce in and then put them in green bags. I also fold a couple of them in half to put in the plastic clamshells that my organic greens come in. It helps keep the produce fresh for SO long. Once I use the produce, I just let the paper towels dry and then use them again to clean my countertops with a squirt of my all natural cleaner. I love knowing I'm making an impact on the environment, too, and have these on autoship. I guess the only downside, if you can call it that, is that the sheets are a little smaller than what you're used to with your standard, bleached store brand. Also, since they are compostable, they're not filled with rag or other "fillers" that make them more heavy duty...like a scrub cloth; but, I didn't expect that. I think they're a great product!

Customer Review: Pretty Good Paper Towels--but If You're Looking for Plush, These Aren't for You
Summary: 4 Stars

I've been using these Seventh Generation Paper Towels for a couple of months now. They hold up well during household chores and everyday use. The rolls are fairly large, so they last a while. The paper towels do seem to be slightly smaller than the Basic paper towels I was using before, but they still get the job done. I like that these paper towels aren't bleached and they are made from recycled products.

I will warn you though, If you like plush, super absorbent paper towels, these probably aren't for you. These have about the same texture as recycled paper towels you are likely to find in a public restroom (maybe a little bit thicker) but it's a similar feel. If you want that plushness from traditional paper towels, you should probably stick with them. If you are looking to be a little more eco-friendly, these are a good option for you.

7th Generation Paper Towels, Natural / B000E44BRU

I really wanted to make these work, but my husband has specifically asked me to never buy these towels again. They're just not very absorbent at all. I find that in order to wipe up any spills with them, I have to use several towels - much more than is "usual" with other brands (including the 7th Generation towels we had before these!). I don't really know which is "greener": getting these towels and using 2 or 3 times as many squares per spill, or getting more absorbent towels and using fewer squares, but I *do* know that we won't be buying this lot any more. I really appreciate all the work 7th Generation is going to to make green products (I love their toilet paper!) but these towels just don't work.

Customer Review: They're making me nuts
Summary: 1 Stars

We had some of these in the house. They don't tear evenly at the perforations. Nothing to make we waste a bunch of paper towels (contrary to the point of conserving) than getting 1/2 ripped off sheets. Plus paper is a renewable resource -- there's really not much point in conserving it since it grows back. If you look at the data (which I know just isn't as human as feeling something and going with it, which is why people vote for the worst kind of imbecile and will continue to do so) one net effect of paper recycling is that the forests that were used for growing paper no longer become profitable and are sold by the paper companies to real estate developers who then put up lousy "developments" and "McMansions."

Bottom line pay attention to the facts and don't buy these paper towels.
