Seventh Generation Trash Bags, 13 Gallon / B000C7UXL2
I love these bags. They aren't as strong as the Hefty bags I switched from, but I don't feel as guilty on trash day - I'd rather use recycled plastic bags than regular ones. And, really, they aren't THAT flimsy - I don't want to make them sound like anything more than a tissue will tear it. Regular kitchen and bathroom loads of tear-away labels, food wrappers, and other scraps will be handled easily with these bags. I just wouldn't load them down with my cat litter - for that, I pull out the big garage trash can.

For the price you really can't beat these, and you're helping save our earth. However, I ordered a case and half the boxes in there were defective - the bags were sealed at the top. Thankfully Amazon has amazing customer service and there was no hassle what-so-ever in getting replacements. The bags are a little on the thin side, but honestly, every other bag I've tried - even those force flex, teflon, etc - all rip. So if the highly-marketed brands are going to rip, why not get these instead and deal with the few rips while protecting our earth a bit!Customer Review: Smelly

I have used these bags for years and love that they are made from recycled materials and had no fake scent. BUT when I opened my most recent box it had a chemical scent. I opened all three of the boxes I purchased and they all had a scent. I'm trying to make better choices and get the synthetic chemicals out of my house, and who would think that Seventh Generation would put a chemical scent on their recycled bags? That makes me question the rest of their thinking about green and sustainable. Gotta take a pass on these until they go back to unscented.Customer Review: Good for light to medium duty

I generally love Seventh Generation products. It feels good to buy products that are environmentally friendly, from a company that is responsible. However, these trash bags are not their best item. They are thin and rip easily. I use them only in our diaper pail. (We use Seventh Generation diapers as well, which I highly recommend!) The bags will hold a medium heavy load, as long as you don't have a lot of sharp edges in the bag. The best part about these bags is knowing that they are made from recycled plastic, which is good for our landfills.Customer Review: Not bad!

As other reviewers have mentioned, these aren't the strongest bags you've ever used. But, if you're buying these in bulk because you like the idea of creating a market for recycled plastics, you probably won't mind doubling up for bigger jobs. I don't.
My assumption, which could well be incorrect, is that creating demand for these will lead to improvements that will yield a stronger bag. Until then, I'll double up when I have to. Not that buying these makes that big a dent in the landfills or anything much...
