I have oily skin with frequent break outs, especially in my teenage years. The short version is, I'm shiny within 20-45 minutes after putting on fresh makeup, worse when it's summer in the Central FL sun. Yes, I did try very much everything out there from Channel, Dior, Lancome, E. Arden and so on. Tried Shiseido Matifying Moisturizer about 3 years ago and fell in love with it. I do notice a big different after a week; the moisturizer is light and doesn't feel greasy. Although it doesn't take the shine away, it greatly reduce it [at least I only have to blot my face every few hours instead of every half an hour] and does gradually make noticeable improvement in complexion. I did try several other products after Shiseido but I'm going back to this product. Note that Shiseido Pureness Gel-Cream one doesn't work as good.
