Okay, first of all, this is my first review on Amazon. But I do read a ton of reviews and they have been extremely helpful for me recently, so hopefully this will help sway someone who's on the fence about this product.
I had written an email to a dermatologist based in the Los Angeles area about the fact that I was interested in getting Fraxel Repair done on my face because the pores on my face had increased in size pretty dramatically, essentially becoming noticeable. This is due to a few reasons: although I do take great care of my skin now, normally giving myself weekly gentle extractions and using products that are compatible with my skin type and of good quality ingredients, in my early and mid twenties, I spent a lot of time on the beaches of San Diego and I never wore sunblock. I'm naturally dark-skinned since my dad is from the island of Puerto Rico and my mother is a third generation Italian.
So long story short, I was talking to this Dermatologist about getting Fraxel Repair which is a great treatment which results in a deep, lasting skin rejuvenation. It's heavy duty but worth the price and I plan to do it and I plan to do it with this particular doctor because he's one of the most skilled at this procedure (even though I'll have to fly from the East Coast to the West to "get er' done!")
So, he's simply said, in the meantime I should try the TNS Essential Serum.
When I saw the price I begin gathering research, by basically by reading all the reviews I could find about it. I finally decided, based more on the faith I have in this dermatologist than on the reviews, to purchase it.
Today is Friday, I received it on Wednesday of this week, brought it home from work and tried it for the first application on that Wednesday evening. I can honestly say, and this is what blows me away, that in only two full days, my skin looks different and smoother and my pores literally look as if they've shrunk (because they have!).
I'll describe it this way cos' it's one of those things that only the person who really pays close attention to their skin could understand. I use the word "ruddy" to describe my skin. "orange peel skin" is a common way to describe it as well. My skin has this texture on my cheeks and my nose pores must be cleaned like every two days, or they have like an olive tone to them and my pores get a "dirty" look to them.
Today, my skin actually looks smoother, as if the surface has slightly filled in a bit, and the real noticeable difference is my pores. The larger a pore, the darker it is. Makes sense, it's like a tiny hole and we all know that a hole is dark, cause it has depth.
Even a tiny pore, still applies by this principal, even if on a much smaller scale. Since my skin feels a bit more plump, the walls and the floor of the "hole" or pore have all come closer together and its brightened the skin tone a bit, and seriously made my pores way less noticeable.
There's a difference between having visible pores and "noticeable pores". Noticeable pores get noticed by other people, visible pores don't sort of ask to be seen, they blend in so to speak because they don't have as much depth, or darkness in color tone, that set's them noticably apart from the surrounding skin.
So, that's my point. In two days?!!! That's pretty ridiculously impressive. Even though I was hoping it would make my skin look better, it's still kind of a little miracle that it actually does. I guess it just makes me think "Wow, it's amazing what they're doing in medicine and research these days."
I mean, I normally give myself extractions twice a week. And I'm finding myself hesitant to even begin because, 1) my pores do not look congested and my skin looks obviously healthier, which makes me not really want, nor do I see the need, to mess with it. And the bottom line is I don't feel as self-conscious even if someone is relatively close.
If it's showing a noticeable difference in such a short time I just hope that it has a continued progression before it plateaus. Judging by what I've read, I think there is more to come. The product claims to achieve maximum results by 90 days with a significant improvement in the first 30.
I hope it continues to impress me.
Oh, and PS. There's been a lot of talk about the smell. Here's the truth: It's not "ghastly" as some have called it. Maybe that's just an "upper-west-side way of saying it's does smell kind of weird. Not chemically weird, almost like cheesy or some sort of funky fermentation or something. "Pungent", that's a good word to describe it. But here's the thing, in about 3 or 4 minutes the smell is no longer noticeable. The only way to smell it would be if someone smelled your face, which, okay sure, if you have a cutie that you like to snuggle up against, this could make you feel a self-conscious. BUT, I think it could pass the "smell-my-face" test in 20 minutes.
For me that's totally reasonable. So no ladies, you don't have to divorce your husband, or break up with your boyfriends.
Day 2 and it get's a rave review.
