Customer Reviews of Smooth Awayâ"¢ Hair Removal System - As Seen on TV

Customer Review: Not as bad as all the complainers like to say it is.....
Summary: 5 Stars

Yeah, not so sure why this product is getting such bad reviews. I was also skeptical of this little product, as nothing seems to get this course man-like hair off my legs...not even shaving! I had to try this product anyway, just to say that I've tried EVERYTHING and continue to feel sorry for myself and my ape legs.
Well, in short...I was surprised.
The larger pads for your legs get the hair off! I do rub them more than they say however, my legs do not get irratated, but insteaad become hairless and SUPER smooth. (just put some lotion on them afterwards, otherwise you may scare your significant other with bone white legs-DRY SKIN!)I do admit that the rub down does not last more than a day or two...but it is nice not having to shave all the time and contend with razor burn and cuts. I really think this product is cool!
You can bring it to the beach and smooth your legs before the swimsuit goes on, or use it before you go to bed so you do not poke your man to death! It is just great!
The little pad seems cool too, but I haven't used it much yet. I do not recommend using it on your face, as another reviewer has already stated, I tried that once and ouch! I think our pretty little girl faces are much too sensitive for sandpaper and circular motions.
Seriously though ladies...try this and decide for yourself. It may work for you and free you from the evil razor lord once and for all! Imagine the oppertunities!
Don't believe all the Debbie Downers's on here...be spontanious and get one before summer! You'll be happy!
:-)

Customer Review: Pretty much unimpressed.

I recently purchased the Smooth Away system and have not been pleased. If you're willing to spend a good 30 to 45 minutes on one leg, you might get your stubble down to a pretty close-to-the-skin level, but it's really exhausting. The commercials make it seem like a couple of swipes will take away long hair in massive clumps and that's just not true. I can't get it to do anything on longer hair or coarser hair. The only part of the body it seems to work well on is the face, but I got a rude surprise when I put my facial cleanser on later in the day and it burned like fire from the irritation. These pads are nothing but glorified sandpaper, and if you spend enough time rubbing sandpaper on your skin, it's going to get very irritated. The one thing I will say for it is that it's a pretty good exfoliant. It will remove dead skin cells, smoothing the skin out. For me, calling this product "pain free" is a false statement. It does irritate the skin and the results are nowhere near as good or long-lasting as waxing. My stubble returned just as fast as it does with shaving. I haven't been using the product long, so I can't speak to whether the regrowth is less noticeable, but my hopes are not set high. The one place I might use it some is around my knees since that is a notoriously hard-to-shave area. Otherwise, I don't have hours to spend rubbing my legs with sandpaper every day.

Customer Review: Was worth my ten dollars.
Summary: 4 Stars

I didn't really expect this to work, but I hate shaving my legs more than anything! I had to try something.
I happened to walk through Walgreen's and saw the pack for ten bucks.
I took it home and just had to try it. I got the best effect just sitting watching tv, and rubbing the pad in little circles all over my legs. You have to work on them for a really long time, but if you're patient and don't rush it, it does sand off the hair. It really is fine grit sandpaper, so it is exfoliating but also sanding your legs. My legs were sooo smooth, but afterward they did tingle kind of bad, but not more than the razors did after I would shave.
I got so excited because it was sanding away the hairs and smoothing my legs that I tried the little one on my upper lip. I might have been too excited and gone too fast, but I wouldn't recommend doing your upper lip with the smooth away pad. I'm still regretting that. I think I'd rather keep waxing my upper lip because the little pad has sanded down the skin and on my lips and it hurts if I put chapstick or lotion or anything on. My legs are alright already, but I can't get my lip to stop hurting.

All in all, I do give this product four stars, and I do think it was worth it, but only for my legs. I will keep using it on my legs, but I will warn anyone to not use it on the more sensitive areas like the upper lip.

Customer Review: Stick to Shaving
Summary: 2 Stars

Smooth Away claims to do many things, but it unfortunately does not meet my expectations. Yes, it removes hair and exfoliates skin without using chemicals. But its idea of hair removal by rubbing sandpaper in circular motions clockwise and counterclockwise does nothing but leave stubbly hair and dead skin dust. The skin has to be pulled tight for the product to reach the hairs, but this is irritating for sensitive skin. I first used it on my armpits because I wanted to wear a tank top and forgot to shave them. So instead of running to the shower, I thought I would use Smooth Away to quickly remove the hair. Thinking it would be a snap, I followed the two-step directions. Ten minutes later there was still hair; it removed some, but not enough to avoid public embarrassment. I was becoming aggravated, so I pressed the product firmer against my skin, but it just became red with irritation. The next week I figured that Smooth Away would work better on my legs. It actually did work better on legs; my skin was not irritated and it was smoother, but there was still stubble even though I put in fifteen minutes of labor. I realized that it was not worth any more of my time and shaved my legs with a razor instead. Just a few minutes of normal shaving gave me better results than Smooth Away did. I will not be purchasing this product again.

Customer Review: FABULOUS!!!!!!`

I tried this before reading any reviews. I came here specifically to LEAVE a review and am SHOCKED to see all the bad ones!! I have to admit, I had VERY VERY low expectations for this. I didn't think it would do a thing. Especially since I hadn't shaved my legs in a while, thanks to my razor stealing teenager, and had some embarrassingly long hair!!
I took this thing out and started the Karate Kids "Wax on, wax off".. three to the right, three to the left... well it didn't take much and the hair started coming off like a charm! OMG I was SHOCKED!! Two days later and I'm feeling a little stubble (and I grow hair FAST) so I whip it out and do a quick touch up, and am good to go! Yes, it works better on taut skin, and so if you have a hard time getting your skin tight it might be a problem. It is a bit of a learning curve to get it behind the legs and on the knees, but it's WELL worth it in my opinion.
I haven't tried the armpits yet, and am not sure if I will. It's easy and quick enough to shave them in the shower. I did try the little one on the lip a little bit, and wasn't overly impressed. I didn't work too long on it, but figure it had to do with the tautness of the skin. Not a biggie for me. My legs are SUCH a pain in the arse that for me, it is WELL WELL WELL worth it just for that!!!!
