Customer Reviews of Smooth Awayâ"¢ Hair Removal System - As Seen on TVCustomer Review: Doesn't remove hair efficiently at all, but does smooth the skin Summary: 1 Stars
I showered, shaved with a Venus razor, and left a portion of my shin and calf to experiment with. I followed the directions very carefully and went in circles - 3 times clockwise, 3 times counterclockwise - and was cautious not to press too hard or too soft. I had less than a quarter inch of hair on the leg (as the directions recommended), but I had to go over it 10 or 15 times before it go anywhere near as smooth as the rest of my freshly shaven leg. And it was still pretty stubbly, but it was starting to get a little irritated, so I stopped. The irritation was very mild and didn't last though.
I did noticed, however, that it took a lot of dead skin off my leg, so I think if you simply wanted to try to get some area of your body smoother, this would help that. Another use might be if you recently had something like your arms or back waxed and you wanted to get rid of some of the stubble that was growing back. It might still leave quite a bit of stubble, but maybe you wouldn't have to go back and get it waxed so quickly.
Customer Review: A complete rip-off Summary: 1 Stars
I bought this product at Walgreens, and hoped it would work at least a little. It didn't. I followed the instructions carefully, and after a while I only managed to remove some hairs from my chin and legs - a very small amount! And let me tell you, I don't have coarse hair. The sad part is that the infomercial promises the process is going to be quick and I had to spent quite some time to get such puny results. And I seriously doubt this product contains any miraculous micro-crystals - this is just sandpaper! What a rip-off. After buying the product, I searched the Internet for reviews trying to find anything that might help explain what happened (hoping I hadn't wasted my money) and I have to say that most of what I've seen are negative reviews. More often than not, this product doesn't seem to work on people. I seriously recommend against buying it, especially if you have sensitive skin - it only seems to work a little if you apply a lot of pressure (which goes against the instructions) and it causes some burning and irritation to your skin.
Customer Review: Only lives up to some of the hype Summary: 2 Stars
I got this product a little while ago and have a mixed opinion of it. So I'll list the good and bad things I've experienced:
Pros: 1. Fairly easy to use once you get the hang of how much pressure to apply while buffing (not much, or friction burn!)
2. Works great on my areas of fine hair like legs and toes.
Cons: 1. Didn't remove hair from my armpits and bikini area despite buffing and buffing. The first time I tried too hard and had burnt-feeling armpits that lasted a few days. As a silver lining, it didn't take off the hair but I did lose the razor bumps that were there. I guess they got sanded down. ;)
2. The smoothing pads wear out fast. And I still don't know where to get refills without paying an arm and a leg (hairy ones at that!)
So, in all I think its great if you just want it for your legs. I just hope they start selling some refill pack separately soon in stores because I don't want to have to order them online. I'll go back to Nairing if I have to.
Hope this help you!
Customer Review: Great Product!!! Summary: 5 Stars
If I could give this product 10 stars I would. I have tried every hair removal product on the market at one time or another. None of them have ever lived up to their claims, so you can imagine how skeptical I was of this one. Nevertheless, I did order it because I just needed to see for myself that it didn't work. Was I ever surprised!!
Of course, it doesn't just wipe the hair off as easily as in the commercials. But after the first usage my skin was so smooth and felt so good I decided to keep using it. I used it every night for a week and each night it took off a little more hair.
I have been using this for two weeks now and my legs are completely hairless and very very soft and smooth. I'm not really sure about the moisturizer's ability to retard growth but I'm willing to give it the benefit of the doubt.
Anyway, that's my two cent's worth and I stand by it. I really do like this product and am very glad I tried it.
Customer Review: Okay, but you have to rub often Summary: 3 Stars
I bought this off TV, thought oh, what the heck. At first I thought that this was really a piece of crap, but after I gave in and shaved my legs, (I have extremely sensitive skin, so I hate to shave, I spend that night and half the next day tearing my skin up itching.) A day or two later I was just sitting around listening to music and reading. I looked up and saw that box glaring at me, so I picked it up and started absently rubbing my legs. It made my legs so soft, I loved it. I thought, well, it may as well be useful for something! But several days later I discovered that my legs were still mostly hairless. So I think that may be the trick, just shave and then rub this thing on your legs when your just sitting around not using your hands for anything else!! Sometimes I'll have to really scrub the sneaky ones that try to take root again, ha ha! But if you keep at it, even if it doesn't get rid of each and every hair, your skin will be the softest of your life!
