I had a UTI and was treating it naturally with water, baking soda, apple cider vinegar & honey and that sort of thing, when I felt it getting worse and knew I needed to try something different (especially since i felt like it was turning into a kidney infection, having known what that has felt like that before). After reading reviews online about D-mannose online i decided to purchase it at my local health food store (which was MUCH more expensive than the prices online...but I bought it anyway, wanting immediate relief). I started on it, taking 2 pills every hour or two. By that evening I was in pain (kidney pain) and needed to take myself to the urgent care. They prescribed me an anti-biotic and i was out of pain in a couple hours (even though i hated taking it!!!) i don't like anti-biotics and i don't trust what they do to my body, and would much rather attack an infection naturally. Then, i decided since i was out of pain to continue with the natural stuff and felt ok (not great) all day, until i took some more d-mannose, then within a half an hour i started having some minor pain and felt it getting worse. I think it depends on your body type if it will work for you...it's a risk and you won't know unless you try.
