I'm a very heavy sleeper and I bought this alarm for the bed shaker. As far as it goes, the bed shaker worked pretty well... for about 6 months. That's when it sh@t the bed (pun intended). After that happened I just had a very expensive alarm!
As an alarm, this isn't that good. The buttons are all mixed in with each other and it is pretty easy to hit the snooze and the off buttons at the same time. Also, they must be using automotive relays to control the vibrator and the outlet for the light. The noise from the relay opening and closing is enough to wake me up sometimes. That's good of course, but it worries me when I hear an electrical device making loud sounds that sound like electricity arcing.
BTW, I thought of buying a new bed shaker, but they want more for the shaker than they want for some of the alarms that come with shakers. Go figure!

This alarm clock is easy to use right out of the box, and the vibrating feature works great. All of the buttons to control the time and alarm settings are right on the front of the alarm, and are easy and straightforward to set and control -- you won't even need to read the instructions! All of it's alarm features (vibrating alarm, audible alarm, and blinking lamp control) are geared towards waking a person up.
I purchased this for my 14-year old, and he has been getting up every morning on his own since I set this next to his bed, and the beauty is, it doesn't wake up my other 8-year old son who is sleeping in the same room.
I've only owned this clock for about 3-weeks, and so I can't speak to it's reliability, but comparatively, it is quite heavy and solid, and seems to be very well made.

I bought this because I am hearing-impaired and I needed something to awaken me without disturbing my husband. I use just the bed vibrator without the audible alarm. This has worked very well for me. I think the product could be improved by adding the ability to set different alarm times for each day. I have to remember to turn this off on Friday evening so I am not awakened unnecessarily early on the weekend, and turn it back on Sunday evening to get up for work.
This is great if you have a cat that insists on sleeping on your bed and you would rather it not do so. My cat used to sleep on the bed all the time, but this scares her so much she hardly goes near it anymore. This was an unintended side-effect of getting this. Kind of makes me a little sad, actually. I didn't mind her getting in bed with me.

I have owned the Sonic Boom for over 15 years. About five years ago, the ear-splitting alarm stopped working due to a switch issue, not necessarily a speaker issue. Two years ago, the light flasher quit working (the button on the face that manually turns the light on and off). Finally, two weeks ago, the vibrator quit working. The shaker itself was fine, just the switch on the unit itself wouldn't properly set the alarm. Know what I did? I BOUGHT ANOTHER ONE! I am hearing impaired (have worn hearing aids my whole life) and this thing has never failed to wake me up. The bed shaker is strong, the flashing light is welcome, and the adjustable tone works wonders. I can't believe the darn thing lasted 15 years! I am going to start keeping my drinks away from it so maybe my new one will last even longer!Customer Review: Does the JOB

THis Clock will wake you up. I have had it over a year now. Being that I am overseas it does have some problems keeping time, but I figured out how to work around that. The pulse feature on the vibrator will wear it out quickly, making it hard to restart itself on the next cycle. If you leave it on steady seems to stay working fine. I am purchasing another just incase though. To bad the company wont allow Amazon to ship to forien address or APO's.
Sound is not all that loud, but comparable to most other advertised 113db clocks. None of the actually get that high, And I have tried alot. I will often sleep through anything. Even cannon fire no longer wake me up. But the vibrator feature will do the trick. I hang it on the bed post so it vibrates the bed and the wall. Bam up and at it.
